Top quality game, pretty standard price.
This is a quality game for any music lovers and gamers who are a fan of this franchise. There is not much else better than sitting down, and rocking out to some quality music. This GH offers a unique experience in comparison to previous titles, in the fact that this game not only offers 1st person gig experience as a guitarist, but also offers a service called GHTV. This service is essentially a music channel, which a large variety of songs all with it's own GH experience and music video. This service offers hours of entertainment, and allows you to favourite any songs you come across for playback in the future. They have even changed the layout of the keys on the guitar, and while I was sceptical at first it makes for a much more in-depth and pleasurable experience.I love this game!

Great game!!
I really liked playing the game. Though I suck at first, soon you pick up the keys and the rest is history.I admit that the song lists in Live are limited, the streaming in GHTV never left me bored. The Songs on Demand let you choose what ever songs are available to play with plays. The songs in GHTV channels (ROCK and POP) lets you just play along with random songs stream. Giving some surprises.I have been playing with my husband on this and at times it was me who is holding the guitar most of the time.Have been wanting to play a guitar but I am not physically able to do so.GH Live have bring along new experience to guitarists wannabes like me to play a guitar without having to learn all the real guitar chords...and it feels great!!

Brilliant game!
I purchased this game as I was a huge fan of the old guitar hero games and it did not disappoint. The "guitar" controller is slightly more difficult to use than the old one with the colours, but it feels a lot more real as though you are playing chords on a real guitar (or as close to that as can be expected on a guitar controller!)The game arrived much earlier than I'd expected which was great, the controls and disc are in fantastic condition and to my surprise it even included the batteries to be used with the guitar controller which you don't often get with any battery powered devices nowadays! Great service and brilliant game. 100% would recommend.

Great game
Guitar Hero! Re-launch of this old favourite in our house was eagerly anticipated. Chose the x-box one platform (we used to have it on the Wii) and it did not disappoint. The guitar controller is much improved from the Wii version, the new buttons took some getting used to and they are more intuitive The choice of songs is brilliant and it has been used so much over Christmas. Highly recommended by my kids (I don't play!)

Don't even bother with this... from a sad guitar hero fan
Having completed all Guitar Hero's so far on expert, i was really looking forward to a new experience. However i was beyond disappointed. The strum bar double strummed constantly or did not even register at all. Not only that the new buttons are dreadful, they are very very sticky and extremely inconsistent. You would have thought they were the only issues... but no! You have the horrendous USB connection, dropping the controller link and taking up a USB slot. Outraged is an understatement. After a quick look online, it seems many people are having the same issues. Don't even bother with this... from a sad guitar hero fan.

The not so heroic return of Guitar Hero.
I have played all of the previous guitar hero games and I am a huge fan of the series. I was really excited when the new game was announced and intrigued by the new guitar. Now with six buttons set up in two rows of three it's like learning a whole new game. At first I found it quite hard to adapt to the new layout but now having played for around twenty hours I have to say that I actually really enjoy playing with the new controller. With the old games I always found my little finger was not strong enough to play on expert difficulty for a long period of time. The new layout allows you to play without burning out your little finger. It also means you are closer to playing chord structure on a regular guitar. The downside... another new guitar hero controller that is not compatible with any other game at this time! Also the drums and bass parts are not available in this game, the focus is on the guitar. This game itself is not without its faults! There are two game modes, one being like a career mode and the second being 'Live' where you play along to guitar hero music channels with real music videos.Firstly I was massively underwhelmed by the career mode. You play in first person in front of a 'real' crowd of people. Your band mates interact with you whilst you're playing and both the band members and the crowd react to how well you play the song. I have to say that I disliked all of the bands and found most of the characters really irritating. I also found that once I had played a full set I have actually never played most of the songs again! There were very few songs that I liked or even just enjoyed, I actually got bored and found some sets so tedious that I had to force myself to play them!! I felt that the developers had tried to appeal to the most amount of people and have chosen 'safe', middle of the road, songs. Judging by other reviews this hasn't paid off! The game is called guitar hero and lots of the songs are basic, easy to play, and not even songs where the guitar is the main focus. For disclosure purposes I am massively into metal music and found that there was barely anything in the career mode that appealed to my music tastes. Part of what made the old guitar hero games so great was that I would know a selection of songs before playing the game and then I would play all the songs and find new bands and songs that I had never heard of. I would then buy and listen to those songs and be exposed to new music even outside of metal. In this game I only found one song in the career mode that I liked and purchased. The Live mode is far better! There are two music channels where music videos play 24/7. You can drop in and drop out scoring points for playing songs. The more songs you play the more special abilities you can unlock to score extra points. You are put up against nine other people when playing and then ranked based on your score during the song. You can also earn 'plays' and select one of your favourite songs from the list of music videos to play along to anytime. This game mode is where the majority of my gameplay time has been spent. Again, the problem with this game mode is that they have tried to appeal to the mass market with songs that in my opinion should not be in a game called guitar hero! I end up saving my plays and use them to avoid playing mediocre songs that cycle through the channels. Unfortunately I always run out of plays which shows how many songs I avoid playing! The music list is supposed to be updated with new songs, at no additional cost, with them being added regularly. There may be more songs that appeal to me in the future but at the moment there are around twenty songs that I like and a good number that I appreciate enough to play so I have got some enjoyment out of this mode. Note: the songs in career mode are not playable in live! If you want to replay them you have to play with the crowd and band members from career in quickplay.Overall I like the new controller despite the pain of additional cost and having another plastic guitar controller knocking around. The career mode is poor but the live mode makes the game bearable. Despite the negatives I have so far got around twenty hours gameplay but for the cost (nearly £70 when it was released) I don't feel it is worth it. I also purchased Rock Band which was far better value for money that I could import all my old dlc content, use all my old controllers and it cost less in the first place! Rock Band also has its faults but that's for another review!

Big improvement, takes a while to get used too
Giving this 4 stars as I had to send my first back because the guitar stopped working after 2 days, but Amazon replaced this with no problems or questions. The game itself is good, totally different than the other guitar heroes as the guitar and playstyle is different, took me a few hours to get used to it. The fact you're playing to a live crowd is a bit overrated, butthe best thing is the guitar hero tv where you can play against other people, whether they're online or offline, and the music library is massive, so you're not just playing the same songs over and over to get a better score.
