Very Handy Product! prevents roosters from making loud noises, very effective. Very strong and great value for the money.

They work-ish. I had better success with a cord wrap and the only difference was the width. Proper placement and tightness is key. I found the best place is at the base of the long neck feathers. Lift up the feathers and secure it with just enough space for your finger TIP! It will hide under the feathers if you do it correctly. Respiratory distress and Panting is too tight, running backwards is normal. They need to be a bit wider. The important thing to know is the strap doesn’t stop the rooster from crowing, it just limits the ability of the trachea to dilate. There will still be crowing, it will just be quieter and sound like the roo is being choked out. Also, they will hate it at first but they will get used to it and life will go on.

Our city started allowing backyard flocks but 0 roosters. I enjoy hatching my own chickens and, in one particularly successful hatch, we got 9 roosters. Being an animal lover, I couldn't bring myself to dispose of them so I kept them until I could find a rescue to take them. Once they started crowing the noise was awful. Imaging 9 roosters competing to be heard! I decided, despite the mixed reviews to try the crow collars. They didn't work on every bird BUT they worked on most of them and the noise from the crowing was reduced by 80%. The colors were well built and stayed on because they ended up buried in the bird's neck feathers. However, they were not easy to use. It was a two person process to get them on. I had to take each bird and hold it upside down by its feet so it wouldn't attack then have my daughter feel for just the right spot to place the collar. They were easy to adjust to the proper size and the fit stayed pretty spot on due to the Velcro adjustment. But, initially the roosters were mad and I did have a couple that attempted to crow and one that we just couldn't get the collar to fit right to hinder his crowing. All in all, would I buy them again? Yes. After the first couple of days of use, my neighbor started asking what we had done with our roosters because he didn't hear them anymore so they were definitely effective!

We have 5 chickens and one was a whoopsie rooster. He started crowing at the beginning of this month as confirmation. He's around 16 weeks. We have a small property and his crowing would drive me NUTS he wasn't terrible but 4 or 5x a day for a couple minutes of just painfully loud crowing. We got these collars as an attempt to not have to give him away, and so far so good. We put it on at night, not that it mattered, he still put up a fight. But no more crowing. Or if he is, it's so muffled I can't hear him. We might actually keep him now. For the money, absolutely worth it.
