I tried quite a few soaps before I stumbled upon the Cognac and Cubans. When I tried to reorder it was out of stock, so I tried the Duc de Santal version. Though barely, it is now my favorite. Both have great scents that are not overpowering but last quite a while, especially when paired with the aftershave. The soap lubricates better for me than the tallow soaps I've used. The lasting but subtle scent may be my next favorite thing. I'm not one to smell like I bathe in fragrance, and these products preform quite well.

Great smelling shaving soap. Tends to dry out quickly on your face so lather it up a bit wet.

I have been using it for two weeks and am loving it. I get more notes of scotch whiskey than cognac, but it may just be the smokiness that's confusing my nose.

And then why Cognac and Cuban Cigars? Believe me, one deep breath and you will know. The fragrance is not heavy and over-scented as so many hand-made soaps are these days. It is a smooth blend of the richness of tobacco (not the burned kind) with a very light addition of the essence of cognac. Another reviewer pointed out that it doesn't have a dominant cognac aroma and they are very correct. Cognac can be overpowering as so many rum based products have proven and you don't want this the first thing in the morning when you are just preparing for the day. But it is there and the smooth addition to the tobacco makes this one incredible shaving experience. The lubrication provided by H et V is remarkable. I was using another hand-made product previously and the very noticeable difference is how easily my razor glides over my face and how protective the lather performed in the delicate areas. It is amazing and reduces the need for TP (if you know what I mean).While you can find other shaving soaps at slightly lower prices, you will definitely not be disappointed in your purchase of Henri et Victoria's Cognac and Cuban Cigars. A very masculine scent as well as a rich and protective lather that will make your morning shave one of the highlights of your day.

I could shave with this everyday, but for some reason, like a fine Cuban cigar, I save it for special occasions.

For those who like shaving soap, this one lathers up fairly quickly and provides a good glide for the razor. Personally, I prefer gels or creams that don’t take as much effort to lather up. But overall, good quality, smells great. I wish they made a gel.

I don't know what this scent can be described as but I love it. My wife also loved the smell of it too.I would say the value for money here is very good. You can use a small amount of soap and get a great shave. It doesn't lather up super thick if you use a smaller amount but it's good enough. I would probably buy this again if I ran out just because of how nice the scent is. Since you get so much in the container and the fact that I shave maybe once a week it will last me a very long time.

This is my third H&V soap; I also have their Lime in the standard vegan base, and Cognac and Cuban Cigars in the triple milled tallow base. While the standard base is very good, I consider the tallow base to be exceptional; I have over 50 soaps and creams, and I would put the performance of this base at or near the top. Easy to lather; plenty of slickness and cushion; leaves the skin feeling great post-shave.And then there's the scent!!! Duc du Santal is an amazing sandalwood scent. Which doesn't say a lot as there is a HUGE range of scents lumped under the "sandalwood" description, most of which I'm not fond of. But this has a sweet, clean, refreshing scent that just bowls me over. Cognac & Cuban Cigars used to be in a tie with two other soaps (both ouds) for top spot, but they are now a distant second to this one. Several months later, I'm still very much in love with it.Highly, highly recommended.

Has a tinge of chemical smell to it. Unlike other soaps. My DE does NOT glide as smooth as other soaps. Really disappointed.

J'achete ce produit il est excellent il mousse bien et il n'en faut pas beaucoup c'est un produit de qualité et le prix le justifie, j'utilise une lame et oui je suis de la vieille ecole malgré mon jeune age mais mon pere ma appris a me servir d'une lame et je vous avoue que si vous utilisez un rasoir a lame vous remarquerez la difference sur votre peau

Straight into the bin. Does not smell natural at all. The smell of chemicals to mimic the smell of sweet cognac and cigar tobacco. The lather was bad my DE can't glide as smooth just like the unscented soap. Disappointed with my 3 items purchased.
