Far less costly than Pill Pockets
I have many senior dogs on medications, so cost per pilling is very important to me. This product is great because it doesn't require refrigeration (unlike cheese or meat wrap options), so I can keep it on the kennel room shelf. The ONLY difference between the Cat and Dog varieties of Chicken flavor is the addition of the essential amino acid Taurine in the Cat format (dogs can "make" their own Taurine), so if your cat prefers liver flavor, that would be fine for the tiny proportion of her diet since she's likely getting enough Taurine from her other commercial foods. For my dogs, I buy whichever variety is on sale. The only thing I DON'T like is that it is not shipped by Amazon, and if you only order one cup of it, the separate S&H from Amazon's partner company almost doubles the cost of the product. So, I try to get together with other local pet owners when ordering to share shipping.

Save your money. You can mix your own flour and water.
I was very disappointed by this product. I know it was cheap and I bought it to try it out. I personally think it is flour and water with some flavoring added into it. It even has a grainy feel to it like it's mostly flour. I does work to keep pill together so you can put them down your dogs throat, but I was hoping for something a little more "hardier" and with a better texture for my dog. When I first received it, I tried to give a piece (without any pills) to my dog to see if she would eat the dough and she wouldn't take it. On the same order I also bought the Greenies pill pockets. I have used these in the past and the dogs love them. They have a smooth texture and the dogs like to eat them. I just wish they would cost less. When I have to give pills to my dog twice a day, you go through a package pretty fast. I would highly recommend the Greenies over the Flavor-Doh if you are able to spend the money.

A godsend!
My dog has been a "pretty good:" pill taker as long as I wrapped the pill in cheese or lunch meat, but would sometimes "detect" it and then spit it out. That was an expensive proposition but not bad for the short term. When the vet put him on a twice a day pill for a thyroid problem I heard about "pill pockets" to help give him the pills. But they are VERY pricey and as I was looking for those I stumbled across the Flavor Doh and decided to give it a try. It's the best thing since sliced bread! It has the consistency of cookie dough and you just wrap the pill in the "doh" and roll it into a ball and feed it like a treat. My dog gets soooooo excited when I get the can out! He LOVES the stuff and giving him a pill is very easy! I'm going to tell my vet about this because I'm sure there are many many people who don't know about it.

Make dough out of Pill Pockets -- it's better and cheaper
I bought this because my dog is on a lot of pills and I thought it would be less messy than peanut butter and far cheaper than Greenies Pill Pockets. It is definitely less messy, but my dog was wary of Flavor-Doh and kept chewing it, spitting out the pills. In contrast, my dog went nuts for the Pill Pockets and swallowed them whole. Even better: the Pill Pocket dough is of similar texture to Flavor-Doh and can be divided and remolded around a pill. I was able to get 4 large capsules covered with a single Pill Pocket, capsule-size.The ingredients differ. #1 and #2 for Flavor-Doh are flour and vegetable oil and they have little smell and 0% protein. #1 for Pill Pockets (chicken flavor, of course) is rehydrated chicken and they have 10% protein.Last, if you buy on Amazon, which is not the cheapest way to buy, the price for Pill Pockets is far cheaper if you use it as dough. Flavor-Doh, $11.95 for 200 gm; Pill Pockets, 7.9 oz size (224 gm), $6.42.

The easy way to get your dog to take a pill
We're working on our 3rd container of Flavor-Doh. My dog loves the liver flavor better than the chicken and since she's 13, I'm not going to argue. I need to get her pills into her however I can. This is an easy, cost effective way (compared to Pill Pockets) to get her to think she's getting a treat. I found that the doh does dry out a little by the time you get to the bottom of the container. Otherwise, it's a great product.

Perfect dough to cover my Senior Dog's pills!
I was using pill pockets until I saw the Flavor-Doh advertised and decided to give it a try since it was less expensive and would cover more pills than the pockets. My senior dog loves the Flavor-Doh and takes his daily medications with no problems. Now I don't have to worry about breaking the bank with buying pill pockets! I get way more bang for my buck with the Flavor-Doh. Definitely will continue to purchase!

Texture inconsistent between different tubs
The first tub I purchased was wonderful. Lasts much longer than Pill Pockets and was much more workable and spreadable so it lasted longer. This tub was a different texture--more gritty and stickier. Stuck to my fingers more than the first tub. That being said, it still is well-loved by my dogs and makes giving medicine much easier. Actually, my dogs will even do tricks for their pills now!

Its OK
I have five dogs on medication for different health problems and out of the five only two like this product. Its like they don't like the texture of this Flavor-Doh in their mouth since they will take it and then spit it out. Going back to pockets, no problems giving pills with them.
