Review from an long time glidecam operator.
Here is an review from an long time glidecam operator. This applies to SuteFoto Carbon Fiber Glidecam, Fotowelt HD-2000 and Andoer one. After spending days of searching through the amazon to find some cheap chinese glidecams I've decided on this one over the cheaper ones without the geared heads.Pros:- price- geared head- carbon fiber- lengthCons:- very bad handle- geared head has some free moving when it is locked- very bad telescoping clampMain problems with this one are the handle and the telescoping clamp. In the handle itself I doubt that there is a true bearing - it does not rotate smooth at all. Rest of the gimbal is ok (central bearing and 2 bearings on the side). Handle is so bad that you can tilt it 1-2° and it will stay tilted because of the friction inside the handle "bearing". It is not more than 1-2°, but without it it would fly much better! If you are experienced with glidecams then it is not a big problem but you will notice it. Beginners could have some trouble without knowing that it is the handle that makes the problems.Telescoping clamp that connects the lower portion of the stabilizer (central tube + weights) is a joke. When I first assembled it and picked it up - it all broke down almost killing my DSLR. I call it a joke because even the cheaper ones have the one with 2 sets of bolts - one for the upper tube and ther for the telescoping tube. This one as you can see is GLUED to the main pole, and has an bolt for the telescoping tube. It was received without being glued so it fell apart. Use some epoxy/resin (two component glue) glue to connect it together - it will probably hold longer then the rest of the whole thing...Geared head has some free moving space even when it is locked, but it can be fixed by putting an thicker washer on the screw for the "left/right" alignment. The gimbal itself misses those 4 screws that you see on Glidecam HD series. Those are for the gimbal alignment - unfortunately you will not see them on any chinese glidecam. Without them, if the central bearing is not perfectly aligned, it will tilt when you rotate it to the opposite side of the one that you stabilized it in the first place. On my unit it is actually very well controlled out of the box - better than it was with the original Glidecams that had the screws for alignment. It does that thing a bit, but not to an extent where you should be worried - in practice your calibration and lack of skill will create much more problems than this. The tube seems to be carbon fiber - with some kind of paint over it to make it look like it is knitted. I've tried to melt it - it definitely isn't plastic. By the weight, look and feel it definitely isn't metal either. I would say that it is an true carbon fiber but it is really hard to tell because of the paint over it. From the look to the inner section it looks like plastic or carbon fiber, that's why I made the melting test.Gimbal and the handle have some free moving space too but it is not a problem in the practice. With that said - I'm a bit disappointed because those are the small and cheap things that make it bad. Even replacing the whole handle is not a big problem, but damn - if everything else is great, why can't such a simple thing be great too. Besides everything written - the thing flies pretty nice, everything is made from metal and is really sturdy and well made - it even looks great in real life.If you need cheap stabilizer and can do the things from the above - go for it since then it will be a really good stabilizer with those things fixed. If you are a beginner then all of this doesn't matter much - for a long time the lack of the skill will be the one that will create all the problems.

Great !
The media could not be loaded. Â I thought this would take so long to setup... I was totally wrong.after taking it out of the box I assembled it and put the camera on and it balanced quite easily and didn't take very long at all. then I adjusted the weights and they didn't take very long either. It is a great setup cannot wait to take it to a wedding or party shoot !

Great addition to any basic kit
Bought this product to have a low cost and easy to use tool to stabilise my camera for filming concerts/music videos. While nothing compared to a Ronin, the price definitley makes up for it. The boost in the professional finish of the video is well worth the price, especially if you are using a lens without built-in stabilisation

Only purchase if you know what your doing
Easy to use and assemble if you've used one before but can't be a bit tricky for new users to get use too. Decent otherwise.Click 'HELPFUL' below if this was useful ;)

Good for the money
Good for the money, though if you want something to work without hassle I'd spend the extra money for something a bit more professional.

Does The Job, Quality Build
Firstly, I purchased the S40-Aluminum-Handheld-Gimbal-Stabilizer via another well-known site at the price of 23.49. This steadcam took me about 20 minutes to set up, no instructions included, however, there are plenty of set up and "how to use" videos on Youtube. Once set up I gave it a try with my Canon Legria G30 and was pleasantly surprised at the results for my first go, I am sure smoothness and panning will improve with practice. The mounts both have levels although it is easy to level by eye. I was tempted to mark the metal once balanced for quicker set up in the field, however, I am buying a new camcorder so will leave this until my new camera arrives. All in all, a good solid piece of kit, quite heavy, with the camera attached so I will probably buy an arm support.

The (U) joint in the gimbal was to tight for the bearing to work good. Just loosened it and it work like butter
I use this stabilizers for years now!I would say it needs some DIY adjustments to work perfectly.I had to fix and add some new parts to make it work 100%.The (U) joint in the gimbal was to tight for the bearing to work good. Just loosened it and it work like butter.I recommend to oil the system after a few shoots. Its a great stabilizer for the price!
