This thing is great . I purchased it with the sole intention of testing timber for it's firewood quality but it has so many other capabilities. There are 6 different modes which is fantastic , but I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with just the timber one, handy to have the option though. Unfortunately it doesn't come with a battery (1×9volt) required but thankfully I have a few I picked up in the pound shop a while back. I tested it out on some timber shelves in the house that were obviously bone dry, to the point that a cigarette could possibly start a fire on them. It gave a clear 0% reading as expected. I then tried it on some logs in the fire bucket which I had earlier brought in from the shed. They read from between 3% and 8%. This would be accurate because theyve been drying out in there for the past 12 - 14 months. I then tested some freshly split but well dead ash which read 22%, and some fresh split and seemingly dry oak but this read at 51% , the piece of oak did not burn well at all when thrown on the fire ( I did it for pig iron sake)All in all I think this is a great piece of kit. I would recommend to anyone who cuts their own timber . You won't her a better moisture reader for the price !!

Got this device received the day before yesterday. Aim to measure moisture level at bath room wall in order to identify where the leakage is. It works as expected and read the Hi level eventually.

This is a well built moisture detector unit. Used it for checking if damp was still getting into the ceiling after a roof leak was repaired. Also handy for checking for any rising damp.Just make sure you remember to set the meter for the correct material that you are measuring moisture in.

No good for checking dampness in brickwork or block work. Compared it with my Protimeter Mini Moisture Meter. It did not pick up there was dampness in the wall. Was hoping this would work as its a £100 cheaper than my other one and I was looking for a spare. My be OK if you using it to check your wood for your fire.

Simple to use with clear display. Gives very fast readings and my only issue is with getting the cover off the top, I'm sure with repeated use it will become easier though. Very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone.

Very useful as found damp in new house. Easy to use and hold button very useful for dark places

Seems to be accurate & lets me know which wood to burn & which to leave to dry
