Bear Stays Up for Christmas (The Bear Books) Board book – October 4, 2011

I love the Bear books. Beautiful illustrations and cute stories. My babies loved this book and they have me read it to them often.

I bought this book many years ago when my daughters were very young. It has a very nice cadence to it that makes it soothing for them. I made up voices for each of the animals which they enjoyed even more. I continued reading to them every night through middle school. It was very bonding. The books changed to classics (e.g. a Tale of Two Cities, Animal Farm, etc.) so that we could discuss them. They know I would ask about what we read so they paid attention well. They both scored extremely high in reading comprehension on SAT's. Even as they got older they still requested that I read this book for them every Christmas.My nephew just had his first child and this had to be among the books that I gave him. My daughters are a bit away from having their own children (knock knock!) but I plan to record my voice reading this book to attach in a presentation with the book pages so that my grandchilden will be able to enjoy it someday.This really was a family favorite to read together.

Very cute book with such a sweet message of service to others. Included it in a pre-Christmas care package for my 5 year old grandson.

The Bear and Friends books are my favorite line of children’s books. I ordered two of these at Christmas time for gifts. Both books came slightly damaged on the binding but not bad enough to stop me from keeping them. I will likely gift this book again next Christmas.

I wanted to know the story beforehand but could not find it, here’s the spoiler: the bear is woken up by his friends in order not to miss xmas, they hang out altogether doing xmas activities o keep the bear awake, and in the end his friends get tired and fall asleep while the bear is still prepping. He ends up meeting Santa that night and next day all is ready for Xmas.

Our Grandson loved this story.It was read to him when he went to bed over Christmas. The hard back book, was easier for him to turn the pages.Lovely illustrations and story. Very pleased and a good price

A wonderful story. My son loves it.

This is a really sweet story with "The Cranky Bear" whose friends try to keep him from hibernating in order to spend Christmas together. We thought it was a nice book, because although there are presents & Santa it's not revolved around receiving material gifts. It's about friends spending time together. It also has some animals that aren't common like a wren. Nice to teach a small child the world has more than cats and dogs. I personally love the way the illustrations are done in these books too. Painted and almost whimsy, but always clear and colorful. You never wonder what something is, because the illustrations are clear.
