My grandson loves the Harry McClary seriesGreat for letter and word recognition and the lines rhyme.

Its a pleasure finding more of my favourite childhood stories by the author and illustrator!

My son is dyslexic and in second grade, and reading on grade level (Early Intervention is key here). He really enjoys the Hairy Maclary / Slinki Malinki books, as do I. For him they are very engaging both because they are well written and because the illustrations are wonderful. For me, there is always new vocabulary to teach him and longer words that he has to make an effort to decode, but not so much that he shuts down. Some pages have a few lines of text and on the longer pages there is usually a phrase repeated which also keeps him from feeling overwhelmed. Lynley Dodd is a TERRIFIC childrens author!
