Make no mistake - it takes strength to crimp the connectors, but this tool does it right.
Does a really good job. Used it to attach 20 ga stranded wire to spade lug connectors. I wasn't prepared for how much strength it took to do the crimping, but the device is "ratcheted" so if you pause you can continue on until the crimp is done.I remember the cheap stamped crimping tools were easier to use, but when you compare the quality and ruggedness of the crimp, it's easy to see how much more robust this tool makes the attachment of the wire to the lug.One thing I noted - when you think you are all crimped, if the tool hasn't gone "over center" you're not done. By "over center" I mean that after applying a lot of force to close the jaws, the tool suddenly gets much easier to press and the handles come together completely. Up until that point you haven't finished the crimp. For verification, I used an ohmmeter to check the connection; not only are the lugs well attached to the wire with a little pull-test, they are electrically good as well. No one wants to be searching all over for a bad connection, or have one of the lugs come loose from the wire when you put a little strain on them.I haven't tried connecting larger wire so I can't say how much pressure would be required; the 16ga to 22ga part of the jaws is on the outermost part of the tool, so it may well require the most effort to use.So while I was surprised by the work it takes to use this tool, I have decided that is due to the thicker jaws making a broader crimp, compared to the cheap sheet-metal crimpers, resulting in a very good connection. For that I give the tool five stars.

Wow! Seriously impressed with this crimper so far!!
Wow, I am seriously impressed with this crimper! After getting this out of the included storage case, I used the heat shrink crimping jaws to crimp a heat shrink spade connector on a 16 AWG wire, and it worked perfectly the first time. Then I changed the jaws to the insulated connector jaws, and I crimped an insulated connector onto a 20 AWG wire, and it worked perfectly the first time. That is two for two, on two different style crimp connectors, with excellent crimp quality and holding power! I have never had that type of success with any other crimpers I have used.I'm definitely looking forward to continuing to use these, and expect that they will work very well for my occasional wiring needs.Changing the jaws was pretty quick and easy with a screwdriver. However, one slight challenge I had with that, is lining the top and bottom insulated connector Jaws up with each other. I say slight challenge, because it really was just a small challenge/inconvenience. If I seated both the jaws fully into the crimper, then the two jaws weren't perfectly aligned with each other. What I did to remedy that, was simply to tighten down the bottom jaw, and then align the top jaw with the bottom jaw before tightening it down. No big deal, and seem to work very well. This is a good one, just like the many other positive reviews show!

Great Tool!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:From the pictures it looked like it was well made and being on a limited budget it fit the bill.Size:Fits my big hand just right, and I have always like a tool that has some heft to it.Design:Simple design which means less things to go wrongComfort:Like I said it fits my big hands. I'm 6'2"Crimping performance:I always crimp a test wire to see how well it holds on a new tool. I had to pull really hard to pull the connector off.

Create "factory finish" crimps every time!
Wire crimping is definitely one of those tasks that requires the right tool for the job. Too often I see poorly crimped wire connections and I absolutely hate using insulated crimp connectors in all their color-coded forms, except when installing a CB radio or 8-track player in a car. This Haisstronica Crimping Tool exceeded my expectations in creating "factory finish" connections on the non-insulated connectors I used on a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air. I practiced one time on a sacrificial connector to ensure that the next crimp (on the only connector I had for the application) would be perfect, which it was! If perfection is your creed, this tool will satisfy. Of course, you must use the correct connector for the gauge of wire your using and the business end of the tool is clearly marked which slot to use. The ratcheting mechanism will allow you to firmly hold the connector in the tool, then insert the wire before completing the squeeze.

Works for Ford box terminals.
This tool worked to correctly crimp the box terminals for the ignition switch in my 1978 Ford F150 (Auveco 16348). I have used crimpers in the past where you have to crimp the copper portion first and then crimp the jacket on each terminal. This tool is nice because it has combined both dies and crimps the wire in place and the jacket in one step. The other crimpers I saw that did that were 3x the price.

Works great. Different heads for different styles of connectors
I've noticed the newer crimp connectors with heat shrink sleeves don't seem to crimp as well with the old type of crimp that leave a narrow crimp mark. I thought I would try this since I bought an assorted set of the connectors with the shrink tubing. I'm not disappointed. The wider crimp seems to be working well as it is securely holding the wires in the connector where I could pull the wires out of the connector with the old style crimper. I'm not sure if it's a material difference in the connectors. They do seem much thinner than the old non-shrink sleeve versions. I'm please with the performance of this tool. The different heads are great because I do crimp different styles of connectors, i.e insulated and non-insulated terminals.

A most excellent crimper!
Excellent crimping tool.It is well built, ratchet and release work great.Crimping wires into those little connectors is a pain but this makes it easy.Overall I recommend especially if you work on auto wires and deal with remaking pin connections.I used this while rebuilding my 91MR2 door wire harness and had to redo all of the connectors, this made the job sooooo much easier.Highly recommend!
