There is a review on this complaining that it rusted after the first use. This is cast iron so yes it will rust if not properly seasoned and oiled, wash it once and then rinse it. Then heat it up to a very high heat and oil it! It never needs to be washed again just re-oiled. I have used mine for steaks and burgers and it is superb!

This is a really nicely finished item that has a nice weight to it. It makes flattening home made burgers really easy. I could probably achieve the same result by using the bottom of a saucepan or small plate or something like that, but who wants to do that!Once used, it is simple to clean as it has a really smooth finish so nowhere for meat to get stuck.

Substantial and good diameter. Nice heat isolation in the handle. Works well but it's a simple task. Shiny finish scratches very easily but not showing signs of any rust or deterioration. Would buy again.

I prefer supporting small businesses, which makes this purchase even better. I love the burger press. I would only say that the ribs are a bit deep for smash burgers (my first burgers got stuck when I pressed them flat), but otherwise, it's perfect. I think I'll just use a bit of baking paper for my next smash burgers.

I've bought two of these presses - the first worked flawlessly for months. As the instructions state, after each use I would rinse it under water, wipe everything clean, and dry with a towel. This worked great until the fateful day I mistakenly put it in the dishwasher, which was enough to reduce it to an unusable rusted husk. Obviously this was my fault, so I ordered a replacement - this one rusted after the first use, after simply rinsing it with water and patting it dry.Looking at the other reviews, it seems rust is a common complaint. However, if you can keep it rust-free, this product is fantastic. I just haven't found a way to do that...

I showed this press to my friends and they had press envy. I was skeptical at first as most stainless product are a stainless veneer. This product is the real deal, the weight of it and high quality finish make it functional and easy to clean. No regrets , this is a high quality item that you won't regret purchasing.

I use a cast iron press for bacon, smash burgers, and browning ham slices and other things. I love it. But the one I had worked only in my large pans and flat griddles. I have a 7 inch cast iron I love because I can cover it and splash water in for steaming - great for perfect, quick sunny-side up fried eggs, hash browns, and many other things. But I couldn't smash or press in it with my standard rectangular cast iron press.This little beauty works in this pan. It is also perfect for smash burgers with all kinds of mixed-in fillings. It is heavy and solid, so great to purpose. The silicone handle is cool even when the press is very hot. It is easy to set down on handle and edge upside down and pick up while cooking so that the bottom press surface does not touch anything.Easy to clean with water and stays clean with water only (no soap) when treated like cast iron - oil surface when you get it and occasionally. If you do slip up and it gets a bit rusty, scrub with steel wool and water, dry, and oil again. Easiest way to dry is sit it on a warm cast iron pan.I love the twisty ridge grooves and what they do for burgers and sausage. Did I mention sausage?
