Delicious, ate these in Taiwan and loved them. There are others but believe these to be the best.

The quality, flavor and freshness were all superb! The pineapple filling had the right amount of sweetness to it--not syrupy or 'on-the-verge-of-diabetes' sweet like a lot of our U.S. cakes and pastries. The consistency of the filling was perfect and not dry or thick like some of the commercial-made pineapple cakes I've tried. The shortbread had a slight buttery taste and held up very well without a lot of major, excessive crumbling. I mean, there was the typical crumble effect that comes with any good, homemade shortbread, which is expected.This brand is worth the price and time it takes to ship directly from Taiwan!* * * UPDATE (in less than 24 hrs) * * *I'm addicted. These are THE BEST Taiwanese Pineapple Cakes I have EVER tasted! Not sure if I'll ever try another brand. I just placed another order for 12 more. I should have ordered the 20-count box, but that was scheduled to arrive several days later than the 12-count order...and my addiction won't allow me to wait that long.

The pineapple cakes were very expensive and not fresh, so be careful about ordering from here. They do not look or taste like the ones bought in Taiwan. The packaging was minimal and arrived smashed; the cake box inside was damaged. We were not happy and tried to return them, but they are not returnable. Be careful ordering these on Amazon.

College son took Intro to Chinese and his professor gave these out during semester. His professor is Taiwanese & told the students how popular these are in Taiwan and how much she enjoyed them growing up. My son raved about these things so much (not too sweet, not too pineapple-ly, and a perfectly dense cake) that I surprised him with a box @ Christmas. I was impressed with the overall appearance of the packaging - elegant is an appropriate word - not cheap looking in any way. The delicious treat had the thickness of a heavy pound cake and just enough pineapple taste and sweetness. Worth the cost for a delicious specialty treat made overseas (Taiwan) that is packaged elegantly and shipped within freshness time-frame. After giving one to his grandfather and one to me - he hoarded the rest & brought them back to college.They lasted him about a month! If you like pineapple upside-down cake or dense cakes/pound cakes in general - you will greatly enjoy these.

I first had these at work as a vendor in Taiwan flew over to our office and gave us these snacks as a gift. Tasted so so so good that I had to order some for myself. It did not last too long in my pantry as I ate a lot all at once. My only critique is the high price and having to order this online rather than having access to it at the local Asian market. There are other brands that sell similar item but the taste and quality is never the same. Anyways, I'll be ordering more of these in the future for sure.

The USPS scewed up the delivery, got it back after 3 days. Taste fresh and good none the less. Grew up eating this thing, brings back my fond memories all the time. Enjoy it with a cup of JBL coffee, life’s good but passing too fast!Almost time for another box…

Having lived in Taipei I can day that hands down these are the vestt pineapple cakes in Taiwan, which of course is the place that originated the pineapple cakes. What makes them so good is that they taste deep fried. It's something unlike any other brand. The price isn't for the feint hearteet, but these are fresh and sent over from Taipei. Worth every one of the 4600 pennies.

We ordered this on a Sunday (in the USA) and it immediately shipped out from Taiwan, arriving at our doorstep on Thursday the same week! The box was in perfect condition and the pineapple cakes were still fresh, with 5 weeks remaining before the expiration date. Delicious as expected from ChiaTe, with a nice texture of the shortbread crust. Highly recommend!
