University of California Press Mirror in the Sky: The Life and Music Stevie Nicks : Morrison, Simon: desertcart.ae: Books Review: Very disappointed and doubt I will finish this book. Written by a music historian. It’s boring and about as much fun as reading an encyclopaedia. Page 38 and its just factual information about the music so far. Nothing about her as a person. Review: Morrison has crafted a compelling portrait of Stevie Nicks as one of the great American songwriters. He takes her seriously as an artist, unlike so many other critics interested only in sensationalizing her life, often only in relation to the men around her. All artists work in concert with others, so Fleetwood Mac, various producers, musical as well as literary influences, and even studio spaces are all considered as her collaborators -- each with different impacts. New details abound, especially about her childhood, and musical analysis is easy to follow even for those with little or no musical training. Ultimately a beautiful account of Nicks's genius by a sensitive and sympathetic musical scholar.

My friend lost her only two children. The oldest was killed in a car crash. The youngest was murdered, shot in the back. After years of court the 2 men finally were found guilty of First Degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole! When my friend said that this was the first Mother’s Day she actually wanted something but she had no one to give her anything. I ordered this book for her and wished her a happy Mother’s Day! This book is wayy more than a book!!

Great book if you lime reading about music. If you read one book, then you are basically reading almost the same thing.

This book misrepresents nothing--being advertised as a tome on Stevie's music, its creation methods and inspirations. Spoiler alert: If you are looking for a sensationalized "tell-all", this isn't it. If you have serious musical aptitude, acumen and understanding, and are a Nicks fan, by all means--buy this book. I completed the entire book as I'm a diehard Stevie fan, and I'm probably the richer for it. That said, due to my "lay person's" level of knowledge, it was tedious at times. All things considered, this is an amazingly well researched book...just not a gossip filled, biographical treatise of the singer's romantic, nuanced, amazing life.
