I dropped my laptop while it was plugged into the charging cord. The impact messed up the charge port so I had to replace it. I ordered a new charging port cable and swapped it out with the damaged one. Very simple to replace and works perfectly!

I couldn't find a part that specifically listed my 12UGKV-464 as a compatible option, so I took it apart and looked for a part number. "MS-1581" was right there on the part's label, so I matched it up with this one and jumped.Part came with a screen/glass cleaner for some reason, but it was packaged alright.Just like one of the other reviewers, I loosened the screws around the fan and carefully pulled it up from the casing to install the new cable. I had an issue where the silver binding part wanted to wander behind the channel it's supposed to sit in because the adapter end wasn't bent into more of a question mark. Overcame this by leaving the adapter end free until the silver part was in it's channel and the fan/heatpipes were re-secured back to the casing.Once the laptop was back together, plugging it in felt just like the original and I was able to run on AC power and keep my batteries topped off.

It wasn’t crazy easy but it was doable for me. I have built a (single) computer, and am used to attempting to fix my own stuff (ie iPhones and cars and house stuff) but I’m by no means a pro. I know just enough to get me in trouble.When I opened the computer up, I found that my original charging port wasn’t actually broken… It had just been pushed back into the case. Repositioning it inside its metal housing and bending down the metal tabs to hold it in place might have worked.But since I wasn’t sure if the metal tabs were now fatigued, and I have the new one sitting right next to me, I just installed the new one. And it works great.I did not Find any YouTube videos that showed this process.. but by removing all of the screws that hold down the motherboard, plus all the screws that hold down the fans and heat sinks, I was able to lift the right-hand side fan Just enough to install the part. (BE CAREFUL, and don’t lift too much. You don’t want to bend the heat sinks on the other side!)
