Great grater!
Previous to this, I had a grater that had very good, sharp cutters. Unfortunately, the frame of the box grater was made of a plastic that shattered after about 3 years of use. I was really torn between whether or not to buy another of the same thing - the cutters were the best that I had ever used, but the frame was just not up to snuff. Then, I found a review on Serious Eats that gave this grater the top rating, so I decided to purchase it.Well, I'm not disappointed! The cutters work very well - they're almost scary sharp, like my last box grater. I had a wedge of Parmesan cheese handy - just a few almost effortless strokes gave me a mound of perfectly grated cheese. Clean up was a breeze - if you use a sponge, just remember to always pass it over the teeth in the opposite way than when you grate. Otherwise you'll end up with a sink full of sponge shreds. The handle is fine, and the grater itself is all metal, so it shouldn't crack and fall apart if I drop it. The only thing that I'm on the fence about is my old grater had rubber-covered steel legs that held it about an inch off the surface I was grating on. That made it easier to use the entire grating surface (including the bottom rows of cutters), and would keep the shreds I was making from building up and compacting in the box - they could flow out onto the surface I was grating on. So, I could grate a whole bunch without having to empty the box. I guess I could always just hold the grater in one hand, the block of food in the other, and grate in the air over a bowl, but that gets a bit awkward if I'm grating something large, like a big heavy block of cheese. Oh, well, just a minor niggle - other than that, this thing is exactly what I was looking for!

Cuisipro box grater is sharp. Razor sharp. Use it carefully, Grasshopper.
First of all, I must point out that, in all of my product reviews I rarely award a full give stars, reserving this rating for truly superior products. Hence, the five-star rating for this lifetime-quality kitchen implement. This box grater was bought to replace a poorly constructed box grater that couldn't stand up to five years of light use. So I bought the Cuisipro for a few reasons:* it appeared sturdy, designed for the way people actually use one of these implements* it has all the slicing textures one could demand from a four-sided box grater* it has a beefed-up slicer on one side of the box* it has a bones ginger grater built into a hard runner "stopper" for the bottom of the box* it features a unique design on each grater side intended to prevent grated food from sticking to the grater's sides and also to reduce friction between the food and the grater. All in all, the grater works well. WARNING: The device is razor-sharp. Much sharper than most other box graters you can buy. And while you should be always wary of any bladed device you use, this one requires your full attention in its use. The slightest contact between skin/flesh and blades on the cutting downstroke will result in blood in the food, a wound that will require cleanup and care, and, possibly, stitches. So, there's that.It really does grate food great. Heh, heh.Very little pressure on the food being grated is required. In fact, excess pressure will result only in wasted effort and the increased risk of the thing slipping and damaging your delicate pinkies. Seriously, this device is sharp. But then, you wouldn't want it any other way.I bought this grater because I needed a top-end product, and that's precisely what I got.

excellent grater
This is well-made and the four metal cutting surfaces are excellent for grating or shredding (or in one case, slicing). It makes short work of hard cheeses like parmesan, and can easily shred hard vegetables like carrots. The base is a nice added touch for storage or for capturing grated material (and has a pattern for skinning ginger). The handle has a good rubberized grip and is much more comfortable than many metal box graters. Highly recommend.

Functional but Sharp Box Grater with Some Drawbacks
My experience with the Cuisipro 4 Sided Box Grater has been mixed, with some notable pros and cons:Versatile Design: This grater offers four different grating options, making it a versatile tool for various kitchen tasks like grating cheese, vegetables, and more.Stainless Steel Construction: While the stainless steel construction promises durability and rust resistance, I found the steel to be surprisingly thin. This affects the overall sturdiness of the grater.Size: The size of the grater is adequate for smaller tasks, but I do wish it were a bit larger to accommodate bigger pieces of food more comfortably.Plastic Bottom Lid: The plastic bottom lid is meant to catch grated food and prevent mess, but it can be quite difficult to remove at times. This can be frustrating during the cooking process.Extremely Sharp: One thing worth mentioning is that the grater blades are extremely sharp. While this ensures efficient grating, it also poses a safety risk, especially when cleaning or handling the grater.Comfortable Handle: On the plus side, the handle is comfortable to grip, providing good control while grating without straining your hand or wrist.Easy Cleaning: Despite its sharpness, the grater is relatively easy to clean, either by hand or in the dishwasher. The stainless steel surface resists food sticking, facilitating quick cleanup.Final Thoughts: The Cuisipro 4 Sided Box Grater is a functional kitchen tool with both strengths and weaknesses. While its versatility and sharpness are commendable, the thin steel, smaller size, and tricky plastic bottom lid detract from its overall appeal. If you prioritize sharpness and versatility over other factors, this grater might still be worth considering.
