Great for bird seed
These work great for storing bird seed. We were having issues with squirrels getting into our garage and getting the bird seed. They even ate through other plastic containers we were using. The squirrels can't get through the heavy plastic these are made from.

I need more
This thing is super airtight i don't think an atom can escape. I have two and it can hold a 45lb bag of dog food between them. The plastic is thick and hasn't cracked even though it been dropped a few times.

It takes a hammer and screwdriver to install the lid. But it is great when it is done.
These are really nice buckets. Just expect an issue getting the lid off of the ring in order to install the ring on the bucket. I had to use a screwdriver to run around the gap on the inside and the outside of the lid. Once it popped off the ring then I could use a hammer and 2x4 to put the ring on the bucket. Once it was on then everything works fine.

SAVE. YOUR. MONEY!!!!
I promise, you’re wasting your money! This is the SECOND time I’ve purchased these buckets and had to return them due to warped lids and messed up buckets. It’s almost like they’ve already been returned by someone else. I haven’t even received the replacement buckets for my first order, but I already know I’ll be returning those, too. The first order I got looked like the bucket had burn marks around the rim. There were little holes in the rim part of the gamma lid. I was going to use these for my long term storage, so I expected a quality product that was going to keep my food safe. These are NOT the answer. For the amount spent on food to store, I better be able to do it and not have to be concerned about the product it is put into. I’ll post pictures of what these buckets looked like when I removed them from the box. The gamma lids, or rings I suppose, are so warped, the lids don’t even seal properly. There was also a small hole on one of the rims; which at first, I could not for the life of me get the lid off! I would HIGHLY recommend just spending a little extra for QUALITY buckets and lids. I am truly baffled at how many “good” reviews this product has.

A year now - Doing Great
I ordered these a year ago to keep charcoal for our grill in. They were significantly less expensive than containers for that purpose and have done very well. We live where it can get rather humid, I've left these outside closed up for over a week by accident and the charcoal inside was dry as a bone during a hot humid summer week and maybe even some rain, I don't fully recall if it rained that week but regardless they did very well. Whatever your going put in these, if you get the top on right you should be in good shape.

racoon proof
We have a very persistent raccoon that has been making a mess in the barn trying to get into animal feed. I have the goat and chicken food in big metal trash cans that the racoon can't open, but that was overkill for the feral cat and wild bird food. So I tried smaller metal cans, but the racoon can open those. Finally I put these buckets with the lid spun closed inside the smaller metal cans, and the racoon is going away frustrated.

So unsticking the lid was a little tricky but doable.
So the lid was stuck on the bucket pretty tight. I used a flathead screwdriver lightly between top edge and its bucket frame evenly all the way around as if I were trying to open a new can of paint. Afterwards, I lifted and tried twisting it again and it came off fine. I wiped it out and left it opened to air out a little. Since then I tried to make sure its firmly on airtight but not overly tight. I really like it and it works as intended.
