Roses for Christmas (Betty Neels Collection, Book 30)

Eleanor and Fulk meet after a gap of twenty years. Eleanor still finds him obnoxious and is prickly towards him as a result.As expected in a Betty Neels book, there is a cat, who has had kitten and Eleanor is sitting on the floor beside the box in which the cat and her kittens are inhabiting. Eleanor is dressed in her oldest clothes with her hair is tied back with a ribbon and is not looking her best. Naturally, when she looks like a bag lady, much to her annoyance, it is how Fulk first encounters her when he comes for a visit. Fulk is engaged to Imogen, a woman who sees only Fulks moneybags and is not in love with him. Eleanor continues to have a less than friendly relationship with Fulk until something happens to change her opinion of him.I really enjoyed this story and the HEA was not quite as abrupt as in some of the other Betty Neels books.

The wonderful Betty Neels is no longer with us but this novel proves,if we ever doubted that her delightful heroines,some quite plain, find love in the most unusual ways. The stories are calming in this increasingly busy world.

My friend only reads these novels and loves them to bits! This author didn't start writing until she was 60. An amazing woman

Faulk was due to marry, but he remembers a girl he knew as a boy and had to return to see the woman she'd become....

A wonderful story,just what you would expect from Betty Neels.Her stories were always believable,everyday true to life situations,great characters and great story lines .She never disappointed her readers with her wonderful talent for writing .

I purchased this book as a gift, I like Betty Neels stories, easy to read.

A great story to celebrate Christmas. The family are loving, and caring , and delighful children. A pleasure to read

Fulk and Eleanor have quite a story. It's pretty great to know that they have known each other, sort of, almost all of Eleanor's life. Fulk is a wonderful man who sees very quickly that something is wrong with Eleanor's little brother Henry, and he takes steps to help. Eleanor is ever grateful. Fulk tells her in the beginning that he's engaged to be married to a girl named Imogen. Then, of course, Eleanor can't see past that. You'll have to read the book to find out how it all works out! You won't regret it if you are a Betty Neels book lover. 🙂

This is a Betty Neels book. If you read Betty Neels, then you want the plot and everything else to be predictable. That is the point. Satisfying in that Betty Neels way. Only 4 stars because it is not "great literature" after all (and not intended to be).
