Organic--safe for foods as well as crafts!
I am impressed by just how many of these flowers you get in a 4 ounce package. I thought "4 ounces doesn't seem like much for that price." But when the bag arrived, I was like "Wow! That's a lot of Calendula flowers!" It literally overfilled a huge 10" dinner bowl I poured them into for inspection. (See photo.)They have great color and smell freshly dried (kind of like a really clean fresh hay) so they are perfect for teas, cake decoration or other foods you might like to use them in. And of course they are also nice for making cosmetics, soaps and homemade papers, etc.One thing I would like to point out is that these are WHOLE FLOWERS, not merely the petals, so that means part of the weight is short stems, heads, etc. If you plan to use these in soap (as I do) or paper-making, you may need to separate those bits out first. It isn't particularly difficult to do, but it does reduce the overall amount of usable material. The package and listing clearly state that these are whole flowers. I am pointing this out in case you missed that or are not sure what it means. If you are looking only for the petals, you may need to find another product or be prepared to spend some time sorting. I don't mind doing that as I feel the quantity is so good that I have nothing to complain about!I also love that these are sustainably and environmentally harvested. There are way too many pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals in agriculture these days, so it is nice to be able to feel really GOOD about an agricultural product for a change. I couldn't be more pleased with these, and I HIGHLY recommend them!

Helps to give teas a nice aroma, soothing for colds
We've been going through a lot of green and herbal tea blends this winter, and a few of them are very plain when it comes to their aroma and flavor, so we picked up a few supplementary flavorings/aroma additives, one of which was this bag of calendula. When added to an infuser and then used to disperse the water into a cup of tea, the results are fantastic. It can change a green tea from an ordinary caffeine fix into something considerably more pleasant to be savored and breathed in.The downside of infusing the water through a batch of Calendula is that you may find yourself wanting/needing to add a little bit of sweetener to combat the bitterness it can add - that all depends on how much of it you use, how much flavor the base blend of tea you're using has, and the your own preference for bitterness to sweetness. For the really strong prepackaged berry herbal teas, you probably won't notice and won't need to add any sweetener at all, but if you're adding this to a no-frills green tea, you might want a little as calendula's bitterness will likely be a bit more obvious at that point, so when I went this route I added a small dab of honey which also seemed to go amazingly with the newly added floral scent. No matter how you do it, it's all about experimentation and figuring out how much you need to achieve that pleasant aroma Calendula is known for while also figuring out it it affects the flavor enough that you notice. But once you find out how much Calendula you need to add for your nose to find the aroma, it can be quite a soothing experienceHow much value is in the bag?A LOT. There are dozens of cups worth of calendula in this bag, and it should be plenty for you to find that sweet spot of how much you need to add the aroma and perfect the amount of sweetener you need to add to make balance the flavor.
