TormekSP-650 Tormek Stone Grader

Great addition to my Tormek sharpener. I didn't know how you could make a super fine sharpening using the stone. Worked great for my chisels.

whether or not your wet stone sharpening system is an actual Tormek this is absolutely a necessary accessory. Quickly trues up a stone and makes it course enough to quickly sharpen an axe and turn around smooth the stone out to put a razors edge on my turning tools or chisels.

Great product for changing grit on a wet sharpening stone. I use it on my WEN and does great.

I have a Grizzly grinder and I don't know if the Grizzly stone grader accessory works but I didn't want to risk invalidating my evaluation of the viability of such a gimmick on the budget grader. I figured the Tormek grader might be worth the extra money over the Grizzly grader, if it works. Yes, indeed it does work. I don't think it turns a 250 grit stone into a 1000 grit stone, as claimed, but it does result in a finer finish after using the fine side of the grader on the wheel for 15 to 20 seconds and more grading time doesn't seem to result in further improvement in the ground finish. (Looking at the blade's edge though a hand lens, I think the finish is probably somewhere around a 400 to 500 sandpaper grit finish, which is pretty nice.) The coarse side of the grader works as advertised too and it restores the faster cutting action to the wheel. The grader doesn't seem to consume much of the wheel at all when "switching" back and forth either.

This has amazed old time machinist who have seen it in my shop! Surprisingly it doesn’t wear nearly as fast as I expected.

works exactly as described. Comes in very handy when having multiple chisels to sharpen. It keeps the stone grinding. Hopefully it will last me forever so it will be a one time purchase.

When I read about this stone and how to use it with my Tormek wet grinder, I was skeptical. But I decided to go the whole 9 yards since I had taken the plunge and bought this expensive wet grinder. Well, I was oh so pleasantly suprised. It really works! (Now I feel like one of those hawkers on tv saying, "BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!) I do guitar rebuilding and repair work, and my chisels have never been sharper. So, without sounding too shrill, I'll just say it works very well.
