Q: Will it work with Nikon d3400

Most likely. It works on my Nikon D700, D750 AND Canon 5D MKI!

Q: Will this flash work in manual mode for a canon t7?

If you set your camera to manual, it will sense it. The flash will automatically adjust exposure for whatever f/stop you set your camera to, within limits. You can also manually set the power output of the flash if you want even greater control.

Q: will this work with a canon ae 1?

As far as I know, it will not work with Canon AE1

Q: It will not mount on my nikon d5100. Is it not compatible?

If the slot of your camera is covered then you need to slide it toward the rear of the camera to remove. Turn the plastic disc at the bottom so that it moves upward. Slide flash in to slot in camera. Turn disc to move back down to secure to camera.
