Fantastic piece of kit - simple, but miles better than the alternatives
Brilliant piece of kit - far better than any other type of door-bar I've seen. The Good:- Well made, folds flat- Bar sits higher than others, better if you're taller- Well protected contact areas mean no marks on my door frame- Good tube size for my hand size, but if you fancy a thicker bar you could add bar grips (for example MolGym 1 Pair Silicon Arm Muscle Builder Crossfit Grip Bar Thick Bar )The Bad:- NothingThe Ugly- The horizontal piece on the top of your doorframe (the reverse side to the one you're pulling up on) needs to be well supported (no problem for me but check yours)ConclusionThe only pull-up bar you'll ever need, and you'll be sorry if you bought a different one.

Mutt's nuts
There are a number of chin up bars on the market but this one seemed to cover all the angles and had generally good reviews. Usual prompt service when ordering through Amazon. The product requires no assembly and it takes longer to unpack it than it does to start using it. It's well designed so that it fits very securely over a typical doorframe. but it's worth making sure you have a suitable doorframe in the house before ordering - like the one in the illustration. Essentially any modern house will have them; it's probably older houses that may not. We have an older house but the frame I use is in the more recent extension. You can easily find vids of the bar being used so you will see what's needed. As for the product, I can't fault it. There were a few moments of trepidation when I first put all of my weight on it, but I needn't have worried. The design translates much of your weight into a twisting action on the door rather than pulling down on it so it never feels like it's all about to go badly wrong, and the rubber protectors make sure the frame doesn't get marked. I'm 83 kg or approaching 13 stone and it feels as solid as a rock. I'm about 170 cm/5'7" and I have to raise my legs to avoid dragging on the ground at the start position, but that's fine. I dare say that even if you are a six-footer it's not going to be a problem. You're gripping bare metal and this does look like it would form callouses (although the tip here is to use more fingers than palm when gripping) so gloves may help, or some form of racquet tape perhaps. I haven't done this yet.One final useful feature is that it folds flat, making it dead easy to store. It's very demanding and tough exercise and you won't be able to do many full lifts to start with (where your chin reaches bar level) but even if you only manage a few you'll feel the muscles in your arms and back pumped at the end of it. I did two sets yesterday of 8 and 5 (only the first 4 to the top!) and could really feel it! No pain, no gain, remember. It seems the only way to get good at doing chin-ups is to do chin-ups. Since it's literally a 30-second job to put it up and use it it's easy to fit in a few sessions a day if you want to. One bit of advice I read was to leave it in place and just do one chin-up every time you go past! You can use the bar for chin-ups (palms facing up) and pull-ups (palms down). Pull ups are harder and each exercise works different muscles. There's lots of useful info on the net about how to use a bar including a very useful tip on doing half lifts, which is where you stand on a chair, grab the bar, step off and lower slowly. This works the same muscles but saves you the difficult effort of hauling yourself up to the top first.A great investment I reckon. Very pleased.

i was gonna buy a cheap £10 one and im so glad i didn't £30 may seem a bit steep for a bit of welded metal but believe me it's really not! it is great build quality and will last for decades probably. i have to say i would recommend this a 100% to anyone. it fits the door frame perfectly and distributes your weight evenly so not all the pressure is on the top of the door frame. and also protects the door frame with big rubber stoppers, and the best thing is no assembly required which for someone with a short fuse like myself is just bliss looool fold up flat when ya finished slide under the bed/table when ya done. delivery was spot on as well, ordered saturday turned up wednesday morning which was 2 days earlier than even the earliest predicted delivery date. very happy customer ill review again in 6 months if i remember to see if it's stood the test of time :)

Great if used correctly!
This fits my 77cm wide door frame perfectly. Easily folds, unfolds and positions in seconds. When positioned properly it's safe for my 100kg weight. I recommend using gloves on the bar. This pull-up bar is designed for using the upper bar, not the lower bar which is used to support your weight against the vertical door frame architraves as well as ensuring that the frame hooks on the other side continue to grip the horizontal doorframe architrave by pushing against it. Therefore if you're unable to reach the top of the horizontal architrave with your fingertips then this bar is definitely not for you.WARNING! Using the lower bar to pull up can result in a damaged doorway or worse... bodily injury!

Solid piece of kit
I have purchased numerous chin up bars in the past and all have required some form of assembly and felt a little flimsy. Not this one though, it comes fully assembled and as it looks in the photos and feels extremely solid and well made.I didn't find it too comfortable when doing press ups but in all honesty I only wanted it for chin ups so this wasn't a deal breaker for me.The rubber protectors mean your doorframe and wall are kept nice and clean with no scuff marks on them which was good to see or not see!Overall I felt it extremely solid and never had any doubts about it holding my weight when using it unlike some other bars I have tried. It also folds flat so easily goes in a cupboard on under a bed for easy storage.Always check your door frame before purchasing this just to make sure you have one similar to the photos and know it will fit.One last thing, if your a tall guy make sure you have a high door frame or you will find there is very little chin up movement. I am 6'2 and found I needed to use the highest door frame I could get as it felt like I was just pulling myself up a few inches on most frames.
