Q: How strong is the handle for carrying purposes?

This is a really sturdy carrier. It screws together rather than clips together and is quite easy to carry. I bought it for a large tabby that moved in after living rough for a while. He is puppy weight and a treasure in the house but the moment he thinks he is being sent away he becomes a totally wild cat. He destroyed two cat carriers completely. The only negative I found was that the top door only opens to 90 degrees so if you catch it, as I did, when putting the animal in you are likely to loose them!

Q: Can the front door be completely removed?

The front door of the Petmate 2 can be removed. The Petmate 2 is delivered requiring assembly and the front door is a separate item requiring fitting. Hope this helps.

Q: Can a cat sit up in comfortably?

My cat can and he’s a big cat. Of course as soon as I start to carry it its better he lies down as there is room to move about. Very sturdy.
