B-24 Bridge Busters: RAF Liberators over Burma Hardcover – September 16, 2016

Excellent read for the history buff; not so much for the scale model builder.

Excellent book covering Allied campaign against Japanese in WWII, which previously had little coverage.

My eldest brother was a bomb aimer in Squadron 365 serving in India. He never spoke of his experiences in the war. It was extremely interesting for me to read of what those who served in that campaign went through. I now better understand how he was effected by what he lived through. This book was an easy read for me and I give it a 5 star rating.

Well written, engaging and easy to understand, Colin Pateman’s meticulous research for his ‘B24 Bridge Busters’ book has really paid off.Sometimes referred to as the ‘forgotten war’ it was refreshing to learn about the background and politics leading to the conflict. The more factual side is balanced beautifully with personnel accounts from airmen and POW’s giving us an insight into the extremely challenging conditions of monsoons, humidity, jungle and wildlife let alone the challenge of war, giving us a sense of what it must have been like flying these magnificent machines over Burma during the Second World War.With rare photographs depicting aerial raids and more personnel shots taken by off duty airmen, this account deserves to be heard.Recommended for anyone with an interest in this subject.

What a fascinating book about how the allied forces battled against Japanese invading forces that had occupied Thailand Malaysia an Burma during WWII. So interesting to see how the transport infrastructure, particularly the railway network, was surveyed and systematically targeted, specifically the week points like the bridges, by B-24 bombers. These were not easy missions, with terrible hardship and loss of life. My only criticism would be that it could have been a little more concise, hence the 4 stars, but still well worth the read! 😀

Another excellent book by Colin Pateman. So interesting and highly recommended to all. The efforts and sacrifices of these brave men must never be forgotten. Colin's style of writing makes you feel he is himself telling you the stories of these brave men. The introduction is so informative, I couldn't put the book down. Just brilliant.
