Cute design, probably better for decor.
These are a very cute pattern, inexpensive and that's why I bought them. The bamboo looking cover chips off easily. The sides look just like MDF. I used a permanent marker to color the sides dark brown which made them look very nice. I also coated the sides with some clear glue which keeps the covering from chipping. I bought them to use for cute wall decor in a bathroom. I like them very much how they look. I don't think I would use them for a coaster or trivet unless I did something to them to keep them from chipping. They could also be used as sturdy stencils since the surface wipes off easily.
