Significantly better than 1/3hp models in all aspects
This 1/2hp pump is amazingly quiet, powerful (1.5" discharge), and more robust compared to 1/3hp pumps out there. I was pleasantly surprised by it's performance (especially the quietness). It's worth every penny! The pump is pretty heavy, but once installed that's not an issue.

A BEAST!!
This thing was running every 7 minutes for about 45 days before I got the French drain installed at my new house. Still running perfectly, not working nearly as much now, but very satisfied. I thought for sure it’d burn out in a week or two, but this just keeps working! Very well made, wouldn’t hesitate recommending this pump to anyone!

Easy To Install, Solid Pump
In our basement there is a small hole for a sump pump which only runs when needed - about 2-3 months of the year. Our first 10 years or so in the house we used a pump installed by the prior owners and when that finally died we put in a pump from Basement Watchdog which didn't even make it through a single season. We replaced the pump annually for about 5 years either through new purchases or under warranty until I finally gave up on Basement Watchdog. We have a semi-finished section of the basement with a different hole which had a pedestal pump from Superior Pump that had been working for years with no issue so decided to get a second one to replace the problematic Basement Watchdog one. The first Superior Pump is using the included float but the newest one does not and instead uses a smaller sensor to turn off/on the pump.Installation is very easy - basically hook the pump up to your piping/hose and plug it in. Depending on your setup adapter(s) may be needed to go from the pump output, but that is easily found at most hardware stores. Switching from the Basement Watchdog pump to the Superior Pump took about 30 minutes with most of the time related to me getting the piping lined up and not anything to do with the pump itself.I did need to contact Superior Pump for an issue with one of the pumps and they were exceptionally helpful. The problem was likely a defect from the start as the pump was much louder than the other I had and over time it quit pumping with any force. A couple messages were promptly exchanged to confirm the issue and troubleshoot, then a replacement pump was sent at no cost. The only minor issue I would note is that the packaging is pretty weak as others documented in their reviews. I didn't have any obvious damage when any of the pumps were shipped to me, but I can see how the packaging could be prone to damage. There is Styrofoam around the base and top of the pump and all of my pumps came inside another box which would reduce the chance of damage. Despite the packaging, I still highly recommend the pump and just recommend checking the pedestal and switch to be sure everything is intact when you receive the shipment.

Looked Like Quality Product
We ordered 1/2hp, but received 1/3hp. We returned, reordered and received 1/2hp sold and shipped by Amazon for a few dollars less. Same product by Superior. Works great, runs quietly! Overall, a quality product.

Great sump pump - don't use the stainsless steel float ball
When installing the sump pump, the screw broke on the stainless steel float ball. I'm glad it did break, or it would of broke a year or later causing a failure. Replace with a runner ball because it's either glued on or poorly soldered. Other than that, great sump pump.

Nice pump
Was better quality than I expected. I purchased it as a back up pump to sit in a very small hole. It hasn't run other than being tested yet, but the test was great.

BEWARE of any ITTY BITTY DEBRIS... NO BUENO!
I received the pump quickly and it looked great when I took it out of the box. Excitement abounded. The downstairs apartment in one of my rental houses had water seeping in from the neighboring, slightly higher elevated basement area, consisting of mostly dirt.I started using the pump to remove the water from the source. It functioned exactly as it was supposed to and I was able to remove the excess water. Yay!However the rain wasn’t done. I went back over about four hours later and expected to be able to efficiently remove the water as I had before. However this time, when I turned the pump on, it hummed but didn’t expel any water. I had my electrician take a look to see what was wrong. He took the unit apart and found a pebble that seemed to be confounding the proper function of the unit. He removed said pebble and once again the machine worked as desired.Fast forward to the next rain. I powered on the pump and same humming occurred with no proper function. Once again, I asked my electrician to see what he could do. This time, when he took the unit apart, there wasn’t a pebble or anything else impeding proper function. It simply would no longer work.I am writing today because once again it’s raining and I need a functioning pump. While I had ordered this unit back in June, I didn’t actually use it until a few weeks ago. I came to Amazon to inquire about a return but unfortunately my window within which to return the pump expired in July.I hate to write a negative review, I really do. I was happy with the pump initially, even though I had to have my electrician take it apart a few times. As long as the end result met my end goal, in this case being able to remove the water accumulating next door to one of my apartments before the figurative dam broke and real damage was done to not only my property, but more importantly to the ability of my tenants to live peacefully. My electrician told me, and I believe the case to be, the pebble shouldn’t have been able to make it’s way into the inner workings of the unit so easily. When the pebble did make it in, to think that it was able to gunk up the entire thing to the point that I ended up with one use, a whole lot of trouble, fifty dollars poorer and without a way to rid ourselves of this mounting water crisis. No bueno!I would have happily contacted the company directly but was provided no option to do so since my return window time frame had closed.

An upgrade for me.
Bought this to replace an existing 'green' sump that used a float switch that would rust and fail too often. The Superior pump is an upgrade. It is really well put together & solid.I originally like having the entire pump below ground, but the reliability isn't there. This is a much smarter design and will be much easier to maintain. The only concern is that I notice the base started to rust in just a few weeks. It may not be an issue, but I plan to keep an eye on it. There may need to be a Rust-Oleum maintenance plan for longer term use.

As i expected
This pump is good value. My installation in not continual use and will engage only in extra heavy rain. That is why I bought the least expensive unit i could find. I believe it will work very well in continuous duty. The pump worked very efficiently in my test of the unit. The pump is plastic so care in handling in installation is advised. The construction is not feeble and I do not know the impact resistance of the plastic. But if you dropped the unit and it landed just the wrong way my impression is it might break. For myself the pump is installed and secured and I do not expect to ever replace it.

Works well.
Seems to be of excellent quality. I tried it out and everything appears to be as it should.
