For the first time ever on CD Raven presents two albums of tough, gritty Rhythm & Blues by the multi-hit songwriter Dallas Frazier. Featuring a stripped down sound and stabbing horn lines these underappreciated blue-eyed soul classics are ripe for rediscovery, they sound just as vital and exciting as when first recorded for Capitol in 1966 and '67. As a master song writer, Frazier provided hits for the Hollywood Argyles ("Alley Oop"), Charlie Rich ("Mohair Sam") and The Oak Ridge Boys ("Elvira"); George Jones recorded an entire album of his compositions and other mainstream acts such as Elvis Presley and Engelbert Humperdinck kept the Dallas Frazier songs spinning. Here Frazier delivers his own renditions of the hits, as well as other songs in a singular style that were picked up by other artists. The package is completed by three bonus original 45-only songs from the same time frame and musical genre, descriptive liner notes and hitherto unpublished photographs assembled with the co-operation of the artist.
