Buy Encyclopedia Of Herbal Medicine: 550 Herbs and Remedies for Common Ailments 1 by Chevallier, Andrew (ISBN: 9780241229446) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Beautifully presented with masses of factual info - I was a bit tentative about buying this book due to some of the negative reviews. However, I thought I could always return it if it’s falling apart or looked use, but I was worrying over nothing. I was impressed straightaway with the quality. DK are brilliant at producing cost-effective books with high resolution photos and informative text. The author has certainly done his homework, as the information provided on each herb is just right. The book is laid out alphabetically, using Latin names, the index (at the back) will guide you to the remedies and each ailment, along with the herbs more common names. There’s a large section on how to make use of the herbs for tinctures, decoctions, salves, ointment etc. I’ve already collected, dried and started to store a large amount of herbs for the leaner months and this week I’m starting on making a tincture, just got to buy the vodka ;-) The text is clear, the descriptions are concise and easy to understand. Not every herb is photographed, but we have Google and other apps on our phones to help, that would be my only slightly negative comment. I’ve learnt so much in the few days I’ve been reading the book. I would love to see the author and DK maybe condense the book down into a collection of pockets sized books so we can take them out and about with us! This book is a must for any library, book shelf or coffee table if you’re interested in nature, plants and health (or not) as it’s just packed with so much information! Review: GREAT - great book.. from a great herbalist. it may be older but its still useful and covers a good amount.

Excellent book! Every home needs one!
Excellent book, very nice design and very good quality photos of the herbs. It has in depth information about the herbs which I was not able to find in other books. It also includes lots of herbs, which other authors do not talk much about. I bought it as a present for a friend and she loved it. Definetely I will buy it again for myself.

After recently completing Master Herbalist Diploma, I have found this book very helpful. It has beautiful illustrations, concise descriptions and uses for each herb. It also covers the best ways to administer herbs and any contraindications, and gives instructions and photos on how to make them correctly. I have used it as a reference every time I work on my herbs for consumption, and herbal skin and bath products.

🌿Amazing! This comprehensive Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine has an awesome wealth of relevant herbal information. It's an absolute must-have for those who are passionate about herbs, holistic healing and natural remedies. This is an important resource for those who care about their health and wellbeing, and that of their loved ones. The information in this book is of the highest quality, with all of the various body systems and active constituents of each plant explained, along with gorgeous color pictures all throughout. The book explains the history of herbal medicine, its present status, and where the future is headed, around the world. All herbs are broken down thoroughly in great detail, including their habitat and cultivation, their key actions, their traditional and current uses, the parts used, and their preparations and uses. The cautions are clearly stated, as are self-help uses and techniques. I love the easy remedies and doses that are listed for every ailment, and I feel greater confidence in my own ability to heal and advise others. Smartly, the back of the encyclopedia contains a general index, as well as an index of herbs by ailment. This makes it easy to find what you're looking for, since the herbs are not shown in alphabetical order, but appearing in alphabetical order of their plant species. It doesn't necessarily make things easier for the reader, but it makes absolute sense to do this. I LOVE this information-packed encyclopedia, and I deeply respect its experienced author, Andrew Chevallier. He is extremely knowledgeable and intelligent; I admire the way he shares this vital information with those of us who want to take back control of our health, one herb at a time. Natural herbs and holistic healing are so relevant and necessary in the midst of modern medicine, and this book proves exactly why. The Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine is an important, authentic step in the right direction, towards real, genuine, long-term health, wellness and happiness. I would recommend this book to nature-loving novices, gardeners, natural DIYers, experienced herbalists, tea formulators, aromatherapists, healers and chronic pain/illness warriors (like me). There is something here for everyone to learn something new, every single day of the year. This comprehensive book on herbal medicine will stand the test of time and prove to be relevant many years from now. Enjoy it and learn to heal the natural way!🌿
