Great book with lots of information about spindle or wheels - very useful diagrams, I have to admit I have been spinning for a while, but did'nt know the names of all the bits of my wheel, I do now!!! Lots of useful information about spinning and how to get the best results, fleece, a bit about everything really. Very useful and a book that I will probably use time and again. Great value for money.

I was looking for a book to help me learn how to use a spinning wheel. Learning new skills is something I really do enjoy. Highly recommend this book.

Well worth the money

The Whole Craft of Spinning by Carol Kroll. Highlights the history of spinning and spinning processes. Interesting, but not informative enough for a novice spinner.

I really enjoyed this book. As some one who has recently had a number of health scares which have left me indoors for long spells I was able to use the information in this booklet to help begin a hobby that under other circumstances I would never in a million years have even thought of.

I liked some of the book but I livein the UK and a lot of the things are only in America. I need to get stuff but it is far too expensive to import from America. I find the same about Cookery Books what the hell is Cilento???????

this is the one to get, a bit old fashioned but still very useful. this will get you started and take you beyond.

excellent book :: must have

Carol Kroll's "The Whole Craft of Spinning" (1981) is comprehensive in its delivery of historical context and practical information for the beginner and researcher. Includes clear, labelled diagrams and a number of interesting photos. This is especially valuable to those who are curious to know more about the origins and evolution of the various forms of spinning with variety of materials used during the spinning process.

Auf meiner Suche nach Lesefutter für Spinner bin ich über dieses Buch gestolpert und habe es für den günstigen Preis gekauft. Alles in allem behandelt die Autorin alle Themen rund um's Spinnen und die Wollverarbeitung, man merkt aber deutlich zum einen das Alter es Buches und zum anderen geht die Autorin wohl davon aus, dass es nicht möglich ist, Spinnfasern auch schon verarbeitet, also gewaschen und gekämmt, zu erhalten. Sie gibt auch Tipps für den Kauf eines Spinnrades und anderer Wollverarbeitungsgeräte. Dies klingt in dem Buch alles sehr umständlich, was wohl auch auf das Alter zurück zu führen ist. Sehr negativ ist mir aufgefallen, dass die wenigen in dem Buch vorhandenen Bilder vom eReader nicht richtig dargestellt werden können und dass die zugehörigen Bildunterschriften mal eben auf drei Seiten verteilt sind. Alles in allem ist das Buch für diesen Preis durchaus eine Anschaffung wert, wenn auch eher aus nostalgischen Gründen, da der Inhalt, was die Beschaffung der Arbeitsmaterialien, wie Spinnrad, Handkarden, Kardiermaschine, Wollkämme etc. sowie die Möglichkeiten an Wolle und andere Fasern zu gelangen inzwischen schon SEHR überholt ist.

Great advice for the novice on all types if wheel and fibre. Very informative and an enjoyable read whether you are a novice or more expeirenced
