Decibels Book
I absolutely loved this book. It went great for fifth graders on teaching them about different voice levels in the classroom.

Good message for kids (and adults too)!
Julia Cook has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I am a teacher and I believe she has the most perfect books to help with classroom management. I hope to continue to build my collection of her books to use throughout the school year. They are a meaningful, fun, engaging way to help communicate a message to young children. This book talks about the importance of various noise levels not only in the classroom, but every where!

Home Run!!! Must Have!
My first grade students love Decibella; and every book by Julia Cook! The illustrations are wonderful and fun. As with all Judy Cook's books the story is highly entertaining, the message is clear and memorable, without being pushy and preachy. You must have Decibella! Shhh!

Great for teachers
I used this for 1st grade. It gives great examples on how the kids should talk according to certain situations in school.

Good concept- story seems too long though
I got this for my 4 year old son, who talks loud CONSTANTLY. The lesson and story in this book is good, but I was losing him BOUT 3/4 the way through. It's probably better for older kids, but I needed it now. Lol. Reading this still helped though and my son now lowers his voice when I ask him to use his 6 inch voice.

Loud kids? Then this is the book for you!
If your kid gets so exited that they can't control their voice volume, then this is the book for you! Decibella demonstrates scenarios in which certain voice levels are appropriate or not appropriate. It also has tips for parents and educators. I bought it for my kids (6 & 3), and they loved it. It has helped them to control their volume, and now I can reference the book when they are getting too loud, which works most of the time. The book looks exactly as pictured and arrived on time. Also, be aware that it is a paperback and is 30 pages long.

Decibella is effective
I work as a BA (behavioral assistant), which means I work spend a lot of time working with kids. Some of them find it difficult to manage their voice levels, and communicate effectively. I purchased Decibella as I hoped that I could use it In my sessions with some of my younger youth and that it would help me show them proper ways to communicate. I have to say that my one youth in particular LOVED this book. We read it several times, and as we read it we practiced the different voice levels. She loved this book so much that she asked to borrow it and kept it for 2 weeks! In addition there are plenty of art activities on pintrest that you can look up to go along with the book, which we did, and I was able to keep my youth engaged in the topic by extending the projects into another session, which also helped us focus on the topic a bit longer. I highly recommend this book for any one who is working with children, or has children that struggle with proper communication.

Another fab Julia Cook Book
Seems to have done the trick with a certain little person who loves to use a very big voice all the time :-)Even though a few American words in Julia Cook ..books I'm becoming quite a fan of the way important messages are addressed by the author.

A solid tool for teachers!!!
I teach kindergarten. And this year more than ever my class need in this. They have learned to monitor their own places and that is the very valuable skill.

Easy read with good messages. Encourages interaction
Messages well put across. Also worth checking if child's ears are a bit blocked as sometimes that effects how they gauge they're sounds & listening
