Good starter
Installed this starter today on a 2001 F250 7.3L and other than having to make a short 15mm wrench to get to the top bolt, installation wasn’t too difficult. It is definitely a step up from the old starter that was beginning to lag. Very pleased so far!

Works great, easy to get at the first 2 bolts, the hidden one was a challenge.
Whips my 7.3 Powerstroke over with gusto. So far I'm impressed. I will join others who did this job before me that that last hidden bolt was a @#$! I had to go through my extensions and sockets to find the combo that let me get at it from the end of the starter. Fidly, but do'able. This thing better last, because it's a job I do not want to do a second time.

Wish I’d done it sooner!
This really cranks my 7.3 over fast! Replaced my factory starter with this and I’m very pleased

Better then stock! But difficult to install.
The stater that was on my 01 powerstroke was a 2 bolt but there is a 3rd hole that you’ll need to clean out before installing this 3 bolt starter, I used a 15mm with an extension and a stubby ratchet along with a universal joint (placed an o ring around the universal joint to hold up better) to tighten the top bolt. You literally can’t see the top bolt.I don’t like that the postive post is close to the transmission lines and you can’t actually torque the top bolt to specs. If you have the time and patience to install and want a better then stock starter then get this one. I like that it’s made in the USA.This starter definitely turns the 7.3 powerstroke much faster!!

Best call your truck an EV now.
Install was easier than what other reviews state. As long as you're prepared with a cut 15mm wrench, you'll have little to no issue getting this on. A helper buddy would be recommended to hold this tank of a starter up while you walk the bolts in. You do have to kind of feel around to find the hidden bolt but there is enough room to fit another wrench on it for leverage. Once on, this thing will start your truck up twice or triple the speed of the direct drive one. It seems to pull less power over time from the battery which is great for the winter time when long starts are needed. During the hotter days of the year, the starter will crank the engine over about 200rpm more than the idle. Noise isn't that bad at all and is maybe 15db louder than the original starter. Overall, definitely would recommend to anyone trying to start their truck fast and in 20 degrees less than before.

Heavy duty
This thing is huge and heavy. Starts my 96 7.3 faster. Definitely worth the price

7.3 liter powerstroke starter.
Extremely happy, cranks much faster, improving cold start dramatically. Was only able to access 2 of the three bolts attaching it to the block. After a 4000 mile road trip both bolts remain tight.

Spins the engine over fast but it's a pain to install without stubby wrench. 2001 excursion 7.3
This thing spins the engine over much faster than the factory starter. It looks slightly different than stock but it fits.1. This thing looks nice. It's got like a rhino lining on the starter and looks quality. It comes with new bolts to accommodate the different style starter.2. There's decent instructions. The power stroke starter uses a spacer. The instructions tell you to use it. It even came with a dyno tested spec sheet, making me feel like I was the crew chief of a nascar team, causing me to quote Talladega Nights.Shake and Bake- off to the install: before you start installing it, orient the spacer to the transmission bell housing and mark it with something like whiteout or a paint pen. Chase the threads of all 3 bolts. Here's where it becomes challenging and why I rated 2 stars for easy to install.1. make sure that you have 2 @ 15mm wrenches. Take your least favorite one and cut it in half keeping the box end. If you're one of the cool kids with a stubby wrench set- disregard.2. Start the top bolt and using the half wrench, run the bolt all the way until it's just starting to snug up.3. Start and run in the bottom 2 bolts. Warning- if you start all 3 without running the top one in, you won't be able to get the top one in. Wobblies and extensions won't help- cut the wrench in half as a sacrifice to the sadist engineers at ford.4. Now use your full size 15mm box end wrench to tighten the bolts5. Bend the connector on the main wire to the starter. It takes a 17mm- super easy.6. rotate the connector on the trigger using an 8mm- super easy.7. I got nervous because the main starter lug and wire is now close to the transmission lines. I put some insulation on the tranny lines so that they couldn't ground out if I hit something while driving and bent my lines. If this thing works as well as it initially seems to and lasts long term, I'll put this brand on everything I own.
