Orion and the Dark: New DreamWorks film now on Netflix!

I wanted to share that I recently read a book that was absolutely wonderful and insightful. The book beautifully portrayed how darkness can be perceived as something beautiful. Initially, I had bought the book for my three and a half-year-old child, but I soon realized it may be more suitable for slightly older kids. Although my child enjoyed it, I noticed that she struggled to comprehend the difference between nighttime and darkness.

We love the Emma Yarlett books and this is no exception. Such a beautifully written story.

We absolutely love Emma Yarlett's books. They are so full of creativity and wonder. Our two children 9 & 6 both boys absolutely loved Orion. Cannot wait for it to be made in a feature length film next year.Also having met and spoke with Emma on various occasions we definitely would recommend her as a wonderful creative person and as a brilliant and up and coming Children's author.

I bought this as a basis for some writing in literacy, It's a great book for helping children overcome their fears. It's also just a lovely story to share.

Bought for my grandson who is named Orion!! Not for him yet, but couldn't resist!

I have quite a collection of picture books and this one has to be one of my favourites.The illustrations, colour palette, layout and the story are just seamlessly put together. The storyline has little echoes of Raymond Briggs' The Snowman, whilst still managing to be completely original.Heartwarming and imaginative, this is a tale of friendship over fear.

This book is wonderful! We love it so much! The character ‘the dark’ feels so gentle and kind and the option to shake his hand is such a lovely surprise. Our little boy is scared of the dark and this is really helping! Thank you and thank you to Orion and especially the dark too ;-)

Lovely story to teach a little one that the dark is nothing to be afraid of! Very cute illustrations too, and the pop up handshake is adorable.

The media could not be loaded. Bellissimo libro. La Yarlett non delude. Scrive una storia che aiuta a crescere e superare le paure e allo stesso tempo accompagna la storia con dei piccoli disegni capolavori. Consigliatissimo per i bimbi che hanno tante paure (compresa quella del buio).

Such an adorable story with the cutest pictures! It's honestly been helping my 5 year old not be so scared!

子供が闇への恐怖を克服するための絵本というのは、ちょっとした１ジャンルになっていると思うのですが、その中でも私はこれがとても好き。ちょっぴりフラットのかかった静かな音楽のように、一定のテンポで物語が進んでいきます。絵は一見マンガちっくだけれど手抜きはなく、思えば最初はこの水彩の絵に惹かれて購入したのでした。　夜だけでなく、昼間の日常のあちこちに潜んでいる暗がりさえ怖くて怖くてたまらない主人公のオリオン。「ママはボクの想像力がたくましすぎるって言うんだ！」と言ってますが、確かに、子供の頃は、ちょっとした暗がりの中にもいろいろなものを想像して、どんどん怖くなっていくのですよね。　でも一人では怖くても、"闇"と友達になって二人（？）で見る夜の世界は全然違うもので・・・・。　読み終わる頃には、朝が来て"闇"と別れるのは切なく、またすぐ"闇"に会いたい！と思わせてくれる物語になっています。　自分はこれを読んで、子供の頃の闇への恐怖というよりも、昼とはまったく違う夜の外の世界へのワクワク感とか、すべての音を吸い込んでしまいそうな夜空への強い憧れなどを思い出しました。

Great book! It is hard to read in poor lighting, though, because it has dark writing on dark background.
