PhotoSEL Studio Light Stand, 80 cm to 190 cm, Lightweight, Studio Lighting Flash Strobe, ST231

Good light weight stand, fine for small soft boxes/flash.

I ordered pair of these stands for my YN560 III flashes. One I'll be using with soft box (60x60cm EZ-Fold Studio Softbox Kit) and other without modifiers (maybe shoot-through umbrella later down the line).What I like:-priceWhat I dislike:-too light-below average build quality-doesn't come with any carry bagBottom line:-for the money you pay you can't be expecting wonders, this is really low budget stand. I feel like I need to invest in to some sandbags even for comfortable indoor use (softbox is a bit heavy). Taking this stand outside? I'd be very careful and definitely use something to weight it down. I bought it for learning purposes and for that it will work. Once I brake em I'll be buying something bit more premium. I just hope once they break they will not take my flashes with them.

These look identical to other cheaper ones. I think the main difference is the solid twist locking screw as opposed a kind of flip-pressure lever. I am no good with descriptions, but hopefully you'll understand what I mean. The stand is very nicely built and comes in a tall thin plastic bag which is packaging but useful to keep to prevent scratch damage.I am sure if you spend a couple hundred quid on a stand you'll find this product laughable. But to me I find this a great entry level stand which is more than fit for purpose (light weight flash and umbrella), friendly on the wallet and looks like it will last a few years.

The light stand gets 4 stars rather than 5 because the base doesn't tighten as much as I would like, it does drop a bit if you're heavy handed when you set it down. That said I am very heavy handed! It holds my flash, softboxes and umbrellas perfectly well. Doesn't stand up to 30mph winds on a cliff top but for £13 what do you expect? Love it.

I used this light stand for both continuous lighting during interview filming using the CN 160 LED light and when shooting portraits with a flash and umbrella.When used indoors, it's quite stable. When used outdoors, it's usable without an umbrella. If you're using an umbrella, you will definitely need to weigh it down.

Perfect, does exactly as designed and intended

I bought this Stand to use with my flash and its great outdoors or indoors, If you're shooting outdoors and its a bit breezy it tends to become unstable AS DO THEY ALL.. I carry a few tent pegs around with me when I'm on a shoot and attach them via small bungie cords just to give it that added strength.. All In All a great product for the price. 10/10

I bought this and the softbox unit. Both items arrived quickly. Unfortunately after a few days the switch on the softbox failed so I had to contact PhotoSEL via Amazon - they dealt with the problem promptly and sent out a replacement part the next day. As far as I'm concerned, they did a smashing job and I will be considering them again next time. Highly recommended.
