Foscam 5dBi High Gain Ariel Antenna - Fits FI9900P FI9900P FI9804W R2 FI9826P FI9831P FI9816P

If you have a wireless IP camera of any make with an SMA aerial connector then I definitely recommend this product, in fact in my view it should come as standard with all Foscam wireless cameras. A quick explanation to help those not of a technical nature to decide if this is for you is this, the standard aerial has a gain in the order of 2dBi, the difference between the two (3dBi) represents an increase in radiated power of 100%, in other words this aerial radiates approx twice as much power as the standard aerial. My camera was losing my WiFi connection occasionally due to the distance between it and my router before I fitted this aerial but it hasn't done so once since.

The antenna works but I would be hard pressed to see much improvement over the standard one. I tried to use it with a 720p outdoor camera but found the connection to be unreliable, The distance to the router (BT Hub5) was approx 30 feet. So had to crawl through a narrow roof space to connect via ethernet. As far as I am concerned, it was a waste of money. I had a much stronger TP-Link aerial to hand but the connectors are slightly different sizes (thanks, don't you guys ever make anything simple!!!). Not particularly impressed ...but who knows, you might be lucky.

This was an extra to some cameras I already had. Where Foscam are absolutely excellent is customer support. I set the camera up slightly wrong and went to support and the chap spent about 3/4 hr making sure everything was absolutely as I wanted it and suggested other stuff I did not even know about. The cameras are adjustable in every direction and all have worked perfectly.

Have a Foscam bullet wireless outdoor camera and positioned on top of garage some distance from my router . On occasions the picture had interference and hard to connect/view so saw the higher powered antena , read the reviews and purchased and since I have changed the antena I have a camera with no interference or connection problems it works very well.

This fits on my Foscam FI8918W, and has greatly improved the range of the signal, and reduced the number of drop-outs. My only reservation is that it doesn't have a knuckle, if that's the correct term? This makes the fitting a little fiddly to put on, and means that you have a more restricted range of movement than other antennas. Still, where I have mine this isn't an issue.

I have several high gain antennas but none of them would fit on my Foscam FI8904. Fortunately this one is a perfect fit. They are a little difficult to put on unless you have the right sized spanner but worth the effort if your camera is getting a weak signal. It looks like Foscam are fitting this antenna as standard on the FI98xx range so it won't help if you are planning to use it on one of those.
