Patton [DVD] [1970]

A must see, pre-cgi historical epic
Seen when it came out and now again, a big film 2h51m with massive production and cinematic quality, superbly integrated music and sound, unstinting detail, aircraft and vehicles still extant only decades after the war itself, great performances with George C Scott as love him or loath him inspired leader - his best performance. (This film shows all that we have lost with CGI and the temptation to shoot inside a computer.) Met our needs on a wet Saturday afternoon.

A flawed genius
Didn't know much about Patton before. However watching this movie gave me a better understanding of him. Long but great movie. George c Scott is outstanding. Can see why he won awards. Patton as a man was a genius in war. Lo had a big ego which at times got him in to trouble. Recomend this movie

Engrossing.
This is a tour de force by George C Scott, his characterisation is incredible. I also enjoyed his dislike of Montgomery, who I regard as only being a successful General off the back of Ultra Intelligence. It is a long film but the action and dialogue does not diminish. An incredible film.

Rommel... You magnificent b****** I read your book!
An amazing film and debut of Francis Ford Coppola, who would later write the screenplay for The Godfather. An amazing performance by George C. Scott who plays the American general, George S. Patton, who (no pun intended) commands the scene he's in. Accompanied by excellent practical effects and a soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith. I would go more in depth, but that would require a video on its own right. Overall, a great movie and a worthwhile watch.

Great film, great extras on this American (Region 1) DVD
This Region 1 (American) DVD, which you will need a multi-region DVD player to play, has the best set of extras for this excellent war film, including a 90-minute documentary about the man himself, a 45-minute documentary about his platoon and a 49-min 'behind the scenes' documentary about the making of this film.

Patton, an extraordinary leader of men , but a flawed human being.
This film was made before the world became WOKE. By todays standards , if not by the standards of the day Patton was a hard bastard. A description which he would probably enjoyed. The incident which defines his legacy ( the criticism of a soldier in hospital with nervous exhaustion) should not be taken out of context. Although at the time he was heavily censured for his behaviour, in the theatre of war I find his attitude understandable (for a hard bastard). The glimpses of his vanity and ego( Cavalry leggings and boots and his mother of pearl grip to his side arm enblazoned with his initials) hardly endears him to Wokes. Great film , enjoy it.

Great Movie, Great Actor
Brilliant portrayal of Patton by George C Scott and seemed pretty factual to my non-expert knowledge of him and his character.Again, great quality second hand DVD from the seller and arrived before scheduled.

A classic WW2 movie in Blu-Ray quality
What a movie .... looks great on Blu-Ray and it's one of those films that you can enjoy more than once. George C Scott was amazing in the part and at the end you have some serious questions to ask. A WW2 movie classic that has passed the test of time.
