Stabilized Maple Burl Wood Pen Blank | Wood Pen Blanks 2 Pack | 3/4" X 3/4" X 5"

These are excellent maple burl pen blanks which have very nice burl structure and homogeneous stabilization. Note that these blanks are closer to 0.73" than 0.75", so if you are making a very thick pen, you need to center your drill carefully when making the mandrel hole. These blanks are easy to work with and turn without any problems. Customer service is excellent also and when I had a problem with one shipment, it was handled the same day and I received replacements three days later. I attach a picture of the first pen I made, but it does not do the burl structure justice. In person the pen is stunning.

Beautiful wood. Love the details in it. Makes for a good looking pen with lots of character.

A little expensive for what it is. I wanted to try making a couple of pens with it. I wish it had a lower cost, I would buy more.

These pieces turned pretty well. Aside from being a little warped from the stabilization process these were nice pieces. Just take a little extra care when drilling and trimming. Can’t wait to find a home for these beautiful pens. I put 4 coats of ca after sanding to 600 grit. Then I polished with a high friction polish.

Obviously the blanks were not dried properly before stabilizing. 1 was ok the other was a challenge to drill since it was so crooked. After careful plotting and layout it worked for my project. Had it necessitated a larger diameter that would not be the case.

Love this product. Amazing grain. One was mostly burl and the other mostly figured. pens turned out fantastic! just ordered 4 more!
