Smooth and works well, just a bit slow
The packaging was a little rough, however, it works well and is easy to control with 12v DC. The unit itself is built well and would work well for any project. Works well for chair projects or anything that does not require fast movement.Overall if you're looking for a good actuator that doesn't move too fast, or too slow, I'd recommend this one. It is quite noisy, however, so it wouldn't be suitable for silent applications.

good for heavy lifting!
Yeah a bit of an unusual thing for me to consider reviewing, with a hint of "what am I going to use this for?". I normally just tinker with electronics, but I thought heh, I have a gate, maybe I'll mess about.I've played with this a bit so far and there's nothing too tricky about this, it's just screw driven I think, it's quicker than you expect, but obviously there's gearing involved, this isn't pneumatics, it's pretty slow.I can't test the loading, sounds like a bad idea, but yeah obviuously they are pretty strong due to the design. You get a technical diagram on paper which makes it easier if you want to design something around it rather than just fudge it with bits of wood and shims.12v dc is all you need to drive the motor.

100mm stroke version is amazing performance and very powerful actuator
Take care that the push force is 150kg 330lb and the pull 100kg 220lb. IP65 12V 3A draw. It is well engineered and it is a smooth quick stroke which the internal limit switches end the cycle. It is a 1500N push stroke linear actuator and a 1000N pull stroke linear actuator (or the same push load but with gravity assist). This 4" or 100mm stroke version is one of a family of 9 differing stroke lengths all with the same load and performance. The only difference is the length of the actuator closed and open. They all operate same current and same speed an impressive 1/4" or 5.7mm a second for me this was also a nice quiet operation under full load i measured 46dB. That is quiet considering the load. It comes with strong mounting brackets and remember to use hardened 316 grade stainless bolts and captive or castlated nuts. The instruction leaflet has precise engineering drawing and measurements so you can fabricate this into a larger design or solution. I'm impressed and will be buying more of the range and this 100m stroke version. Happy to recommend, Andrew

High load limit, fast retraction, easy to use actuator
This linear actuator works pretty well. I took small length for testing just to see how they works but later on i will go for bigger to make workbench to my garage which i could lift and lower depending what i will be doing. Simple build but works as intended. It is very fast comparing to others actuators on market however i recommend to apply more grease for smooth retraction. During work it is reasonable quiet, what i mean by that it's not loud.To actually use this you need to understand basics about electric since you will have to connect it to 12V DC power supply and ideally to switch to be able to change polarity. Actuator itself seems very solid and sturdy, there is no worry that it will brake. In package they supply you as well with brackets for both sides to fit it wherever you want. Great that inside you have build-in limit switch, so it will stop when reach maximum or minimum length while retracting. So far happy how it's works however it could be slightly cheaper.

Smooth and strong actuator
In the box you get the actuator, two mounting brackets and a sheet of instructions. Handily the instructions include an exact CAD drawing of the unit with dimensions to make it easier to add it to your project. No control box is included but the unit can be used without on by reversing the polarity of the 12vdc supply. The unit is smooth and strong when in operation. It is very hard to test exactly how strong but it certainly seems to be performing as advertised and I am very happy with it.
