Since you are looking at this item, you clearly use disc brakes. If you use hydraulic brakes, you know that sometimes the pistons don't come out straight. They sometimes come out top first or just slightly slanted.This uneven application will cause uneven break pad wear and reduce the overall life of your brake pads since one side/edge will be worn out before the rest of the pad.This tool is great not only at spreading the pads and pistons without having to remove the brake pads. Yeah, I know you always put the plastic spacer in as soon as you remove a wheel and/or you never grab the brake handle when the wheel is off. If that’s not always true this is the fix. Mine came with a dull area on the tool edge but a few soft passes with my knife sharpener straightened the edge. Not knife sharp to cut into the brake pad and won’t do damage like a screw driver, like so many good tools it works.
