Great quality
Great quality as you would expect from Yamaha. Comes with a protective case which is made of a thick material so expect it to last. Little more expensive than the others but when comparing to what other children have I’m glad I paid the extra as the plastic is thicker and better material than others.

Excellently Crafted Yamaha Instrument.
This is an excellent recorder. While a plastic recorder may not be as aesthetically pleasing as a nicely crafted wooden recorder, what you trade in for is a precision cut instrument that is clear, loud and consistent in its performance. It sounds surprisingly pleasing and you can get the nice darker tone of wooden instruments if you blow a little bit softer. The upper register is really easy to articulate. My only complaint is that it projects almost too much on the high notes which can become a bit fatiguing on your ears, but there's enough scope for dynamics before the note chokes.A quality recorder.

Plays very well throughout the range with no squeaking
It’s well made, comes in a useful bag with a cleaning rod and pot of joint wax. It’s a useful back up to my wooden instrument which has a wider bore, so sounds breathier.

Professional instrument at a reasonable price.
My 6 year old has started recorder lessons in school, an my mrs purchased a cheap one from the toy store and sounded screechy and annoying.I decided to order this, It’s one of those you get what you pay for. The sound is better and the build and feel Is if quality. It came with a Yamaha cover and a cleaning kit as well.

Nice recorder for the price.
This is a nice sounding recorder. It is easy to overblow so you have to be careful about that. Like any recorder it sounds better in a warm room and cloggs after about 10 to 15 minutes (the same as my resin Aulos) in a cooler room. I alternated playing it with my Aulos and my wooden Mollenhauer to compare. I was surprised that I still liked the sound when playing my medieval pieces. I bought it as I like to play for a long time in one session so needed another descant to swap when my wooden Mollenhauer has had enough or my Aulos is getting clogged.

No, it's not in B flat!
This "YAMAHA Recorder, Soprano, Baroque Fingering, Simulated Rosewood, white trim" is a standard cheap but high quality Yamaha plastic descant recorder. It is *not* in B flat, but in C, as it should be. SInce it was sold by the "Yamaha Store", I can only wonder who saw the "B" in the name and assumed "B flat". It's actually B for Baroque fingering. The alternative is German fingering, which makes playing F simpler at rhe expense of making most even slightly interesting music more difficult. Get German fingering if you want to play "Three blind mice" for a month and then bin it. Ger Baroque fingering if you want an instrument capable of playing actual music.

Excellent learning recorder for children
I bought this for my 6 year old daughter who wanted to learn to play as part of a school club. On receiving advice from a recorder teacher, the soprano was recommended as a first recorder. It comes with it's own case and cleaning equipment, with a little plastic sleeve on the case to record your name (very handy if taking to school!). My daughter found it easy to use in terms of finger work but it does emit a rather shrill noise if you blow too hard - seems to be rather sensitive but, therefore, teaches you to blow gently to get a truer note. In this sense, it may suit a more seasoned player but I would recommend anyway for a first timer; just be prepared to keep reminding your little one to blow gently! Yamaha YRS302BIII Soprano Recorder

Very good product
I bought this for my 7 year old who is learning to play in the school recorder club. I remember playing (many) decades ago when I had a wooden recorder, but this has a much nicer, more mellow sound - now that she has mastered blowing it gently! The notes are easy for her small hands to reach. It was delivered very promptly and arrived very well packaged. She is so pleased with it she practises all the time......hmmmm........thanks.........!!
