Great looking but unfinished product
The media could not be loaded. Kindly sent to me for review this is a great looking bit of kit. There isn't much to it, it opens to allow 2 AA batteries to be installed. To get it setup you'll need to download the companion app, fire this up and it'll detect the remote and apply a software update if required. In the app you can then create different profiles to control a range of gadgets. You swap between the profiles by tapping the S on top of the controller and the light colour indicated which profile is in use.The idea is that this can replace all your existing remotes for all your gadgets, and it almost manages this. You assign different actions to different gestures, so for example spinning it activates volume up or down (depending which way you spint). To teach the SPIN commands you need to point the existing remote and press the corresponding key. This feels time intensive compared to the Logitech Harmony remote system that can download commands for your specific device without having to teach the remote, but is a similar system as used in The Wand Company remotes that also require you to program in each command. The Spin didn't like my LG Magic Remote, refusing to recognise commands. Fortunately this remote is actually use to control and amplifier and Tivo rather than the TV itself and the Spin had no problem accepting commands from either of those remotes. The commands are learnt very quickly, but with such a range of options you'll need to be good at remembering what action performs what command. The spin gestures work well, the trackpad gestures are a little hit and miss. Sometimes I'll do one gesture and it'll think I'm doing another but perhaps I need more practice with it.The pad can work really well, you'll see me use it to control the Tivo menu system in the review video.A second issue I ran into was that some features were listed as coming soon, for example I couldn't make use of the Nest or Lifx options in the app.So it's a nice bit of kit that currently feels unfinished. If you're not interested in those missing features and you want a cool universal remote this is a great little item that has stiff competition from the likes of The Wand Company and Logitech.

Too complicated
Far too complicated for me to use and has been put in the man draw never to be used again , had high hopes for this as a solution for multiple hand pieces but reality didn’t match the marketing for me . It is however a very nice looking thing .

Proper gadge
Looks great and gets rid of the need for a load of remotes getting lost down the back of the sofa.Expensive but worth the extra for the design and abilities.

It does the basic job nicely
After a month of usage : Really easy to set-up. Good for basic remote functions. Sometimes is just not responsive so you need to reset it by taking out the bateries. Need some more work on complex remote functionalities.

Good value for your money....
Very impressed at the solid casing and design. Unfortunately not suitable for the WiFi in my house, but well worth the effort as would have kept, but for that.

Brilliant design but limited usefulness at the moment
First of all, I like this little device a lot. It sits coolly on the coffee table like a designer pepperpot, and when picked up it responds by lighting up and giving a little haptic feedback pulse. It's nicely weighted and with the brushed stainless steel shell it feels nice in the hand. Rotating the device anti-clockwise to turn down the TV feels really sci-fi as well as being intuitive and more convenient than finding the right remote (there are three on the table) and its Volume Down button. Welcome to the World of Tomorrow. However, I have a dilemma. I mostly use my Yamaha AV system instead of the TV's built-in speakers, but it's been so long since I last used the remote that I can't find it (I just use the iOS app all the time), so I can't teach it the controls that I need for most TV viewing and gaming, and unlike some of the more conventional Universal Remote products on the market Spin don't provide any database of controller presets, so now I'll probably have to buy a replacement Yamaha remote from eBay just to use once and throw in a drawer like the old one. Or, for about the same price, buy a Logitech Harmony 350 which can download the IR codes, but then I'll hardly need the Spin.I've also set up a "Virgin TiVo" profile and programmed Pause/Play/Rewind/Fast Forward/OK, but using the TiVo remote has always been a struggle involving a lot of waving and retrying, especially with the Christmas tree in the way, and the Spin has no more luck than the supplied remote. (Again I mostly use the iOS app, although that has its own issues since apparently connecting an app to a TiVo box on the same network in the same room two minutes after you last used it takes a thousand times longer than connecting to Facebook in Oregon.) This isn't the Spin Remote's fault - probably I could move some furniture around or get a third party IR blaster like the Neet IR HUB , but again I'm thinking a Logitech Harmony Home Hub would solve the line-of-sight problems and also interface with my wife's new Echo Dot .Spin say they are working on Alexa integration, which if all goes well could be available via a software update some time in 2017. What would be nice would be if Spin had its own Spin Hub, or else could act as a controller for some third party hub product that could in turn work my Yamaha AV system and more besides, but that is all in the future and at the moment its IR control requires direct line of sight and is no use to anyone whose AV equipment is in a closed cabinet or just awkwardly positioned like mine. (It can also control Sonos, Phillips Hue and Denon Heos devices, though I don't have any of those yet and they won't help with my AV system.)Then there is my PS4 (for Amazon Prime TV as well as gaming), which I don't think I can control with this at all, and my Apple TV, which I haven't tried yet (I'll update this review when I do).All in all, it's a super-cool futuristic coffee table gadget and potentially the best universal remote ever and I really want to love it, but at the moment there isn't much I can do with it and the more conventional devices like Logitech's are ahead in connectivity options.
