This is a great toy! It was lightweight and looks amazing! My son loved it.

Very colorful and decorative. One of the rare novelty items that looks BETTER in real life than it does in its own ads.

From a distance from a direct angle and in poor lighting you might be able to be tricked into thinking this is a real axe, but with even modest scrutiny the illusion breaks. That's not all bad for a child's toy, the foam is light and unlikely to cause any damage. But the design is a bit of a let down if you were hoping for something a little more convincing. Beyond that, the other and main reason I'm dinging it a star, even as a child's toy, is that it's not very ergonomic. The square shape isn't super comfortable to hold and even though the "blade" doesn't come to a point, it does have two corners that may hurt more if used incorrectly than a single smooth edge. I wish they beveled or rounded the edges along the handle and at the end of the axe blade, it would have added to both the illusion and the comfort of the toy. Overall, I'd say this is best suited for a toddler viking costume where you want to sell the story more than the illusion.

I bought this for my son for his 11th birthday and he absolutely loved it! It is really an impressive looking weapon in both the colors and detail. It is sturdy as well and has stood up to his role playing.
