Mine didn’t come with a spacer. It’s extremely difficult to separate these magnets from each other. Considering returning these because of that.

Perfect magnets for the shop. They have a lot of hold to them......

I bought these to use with some steel balls to remove dents from thin brass musical instruments. The magnets are strong and with some effort I was able to manipulate it over some of the dents. It's not strong enough to use on thick material, but some very thin brass was doable. The only downside, is that when I was putting them away they slammed together quickly and one broke. The sharp edge makes it unusable for me. I would suggest to the company to sell these singly. I only needed one, and to be truthful, I still have one.

Work great and are very strong for the size.
