Wow! I had been looking at doorbell cameras for awhile and decided on Reolink after reading reviews. Great price and great quality. Installation was fast and easy, I was able to use the existing doorbell wiring and DC power in my older home and things set up in a little over 1 hour. The documentation was excellent and their on-line support pages are great.There are several ways to access the camera, Reolink app for PC/Mac (sorry, no Linux yet) and phone apps for Android and iPhone. Direct web browser access works also. There are several differences between the apps depending on which you are using, but overall very easy and intuitive.Setting up the camera and recording is straightforward but you may need to spend a little time tweaking it for your preferences, there are plenty of options without being too overwhelming.Picture quality is adjustable and pretty good overall.Pros:Great documentation and on-line resourcesEasy installationNo batteries or rechargingMultiple easy to use apps to view the cameraCamera can be viewed away from home with the apps (PC and phone)Optional (128G recommended) Micro SD card for video storageNO CLOUD!Email alertsCons:*No Linux support (you can view through a web browser)Notes: Not pro or con, there is a good mix of features for the price so I feel this is a great value. If you're already in the Reolink ecosystem then this, or the white portrait version, are the best options for a video doorbell. Brainless install, great picture quality, integrates easily with a Reolink NVR (the RLN8-410 in my case) and mobile app, and works perfectly with Home Assistant for automation and security dashboards. IR lights, two-way audio, recorded message capability, and included wedges make this an all-around performer for most homes.I wish the doorbell would have supported our mechanical chimes (for the old-skool feel) but the included chime has several available sounds and is definitely loud enough to be heard throughout our three-story home.Camera number eight in my Reolink setup and the one I've built the most automations around (e.g. package notification, AI image interpretation, etc). Great product, no subscriptions, and it just works.

I’ve been using this doorbell camera for close to six months now, and I wanted to give it time to mature through firmware updates and real-world use before writing a proper review. Like many others, I bought this doorbell camera to escape the ongoing subscription fees of my previous one. With a few years of physical security experience, I took interest when I saw this model from an established security camera brand.When I first bought it, I returned the initial unit due to two main issues: the day/night threshold behavior and a motion loop problem related to porch light automation.Issue 1: Day/Night ThresholdI set the camera to switch to black and white (IR mode) at night, which it did. However, after sunrise, it stayed in black and white well into daylight, even after adjusting the threshold settings. The only workaround was to manually set the mode to "Color" instead of "Auto."Issue 2: Motion Loop with Porch Light AutomationMy previous doorbell camera effectively triggered the porch light when motion was detected, then turned it off after motion stopped. With this camera, turning on the porch light caused it to switch from black and white to color, which it interpreted as a new motion event. When the light turned off and the camera switched back to black and white, it again detected motion. This created a continuous loop of alerts that lasted until the next day—something I only caught by reviewing the footage.Reolink's support team was quick to respond and sent me a replacement. While the second unit still had minor issues, they were more manageable. I kept it because of the overall value—especially no subscription fees, great video quality, and remote encrypted video storage via the Home Hub.After a few firmware updates, I was happy to see that the threshold issue was resolved. Bought 2 of these (plus adapters to fit snugly on my siding). They work well and I am pleased with them. No monthly subscription and by default the storage is on an SD card. You can also set them up to transfer the files to a computer, but I haven't gotten to this yet. The model I got has support for the doorbell wiring for power and both LAN/WIFI connectivity. Camera/picture quality is decent.Note that you will probably need at least 16v 30 VA transformer for the doorbell to work. My existing set-up was severely underpowered and had a 10v 5VA which was insufficient to power even one of them (I actually tried it). After upgrading to a 24v 40VA transformer, I was golden.My main critique would be that they add some additional features to the software, and I wish that there was a bit more fine tuning with the detection alarm. But other than that, no complaints.

This doorbell cam is amazing. I almost returned it due to not taking my time to review the manual when adding to an existing doorbell wiring. However, once I did it was smooth sailing. I got me a 256GB MICRO SD CARD in and it’s all done, no need for any subscriptions. Recorded videos look less sharper than live videos, not sure why but don’t worry as I am Nicky picky when it’s comes to video quality. This is 2K. The audio system on this thing is amazing. Picks every little sound with great detail. So far so good. Love it.
