UpdateAlthough I will never do bokashi composting again, I have found one benefit to using this bran. To my more traditional composter, I have added a handful of this bran every time I feed my composter and have noticed it speeding up the break down process. I do not believe anaerobic is the key, as this stuff kick starts fungi even in aerated bins, and does not need anaerobic conditions to work, which in my experience it does not work. So I have upped my star rating to 4 stars for the bokashi bran alone. Good for traditional compost pile.

This stuff is expensive. But if you have as much kitchen compost as we do, it's worth it. You can have the most foul smelling stuff in your kitchen bucket (think shrimp casings, cray fish shells) and this Bokashi will quell it. Plus, it appears to be a compost starter as well. We do add lots of organic material to our outdoor tumbler (leaf mulch, cut grass, etc.), but since we've been using this Boskashi, the stuff in our tumbler really seems to compost much more quickly.

I live off grid and use an outhouse for a toilet. The gnats and odor were getting really bad. I sprinkle a little bit after #2 and odor and bugs are almost completely gone and definitely not a bother anymore! It worked almost instantly. I imagine it will compost down quicker too now.
