The kit works
This kit works but one need to apply some engineering wisdom as to how and when to use it: The metal sleeve adds a lot of rigidity to repaired segment of the rod which may cause either another segment to break due to excessive stress or lower the sensitivity of the rod depending on where the repair occurs. When compared to the kits relying on a wire wrap, this repair method feels definitely more reliable but if your break occurred on a section which is meant to flex and bend a lot, this may not be the best solution. Also wish the sleeves and carbon tube had one size smaller in the kit…

Easy. Worked.
Stepped on my Orvis Clearwater fly rod and snapped piece #4 mid-section. Bought this, definitely use a power tool to help sand. Manual sanding is going to take 100, good grief maybe 1000, times longer and it will not taper like it should.Let it set up the full time frame because I had the time; not sure it needed it though. Glue sets up fast and is super sticky.Wanted to get OEM part, but it would not show up in time for my CO fishing trip. Anyway, fly rod was as good as new, sans a shiny aluminum repair piece. One suggestion would be to have black anodized tubes to blend in with rods that are mostly dark graphite these days.

Good, average kit.
Bought this to repair some broken rods in the collection. Works OK on most rods. Mike the outer diameter of the rod before you buy this kit. Won't work on ultralight rods near the tip. Smallest they advise is 2.4 mm. My ultralight is 1.6mm at the tip. I made it work,, but wouldn't advise trying it on anything smaller than they advise. I had to fabricate parts to use.No matter, works great on average sized rods. Instruction are extremely basic . If you're a novice, watch a couple of videos on rod repairs before you start. Make sure you mix the epoxy thoroughly. It has a long working time which is nice. Wipe up any over runs while its wet.Once you get it where you want it,leave it alone for a full 24 hours like they say. It's slow curing. I've found it to be at least as strong as the original rod,if not stronger.

Shocked how well it works
It actually works really well when you scuff up the parts to be glued and follow directions exactly, it says give 24 hours to dry, i went with 48 to be safe and ive had rods actually break in a different spot but the repair holds, really works well

I tried it once. It was simple to use. but the repair didn't hold up.
I bought this kit to repair a broken casting rod. The repair broke again on the first fish I caught.

Money Saver Repair Kit
I recently bought my husband a custom made $230 carbon fiber fishing rod. Unfortunately, 5 days after delivery, on the first fishing outing the tip broke. The unmentioned company wanted the rod back & $120 for a repair. Now we weren’t about to pay half of the rods worth in a repair. So as the DIYers that we are, we took matters into our hands. We began the search for a repair kit to transform the rod into it’s original state! The price of this kit caught our eye & we ordered it!Received the kit in under 30 hours after purchase !Upon receiving the kit we got to work. We followed instructions sanding down the broken sides. Then choose the carbon insert that best fit, while also sanding the tips down a bit on that insert before adding the glue to then insert into the rod.We then allowed the rod to sit for 24 hrs giving the glue time to set & dry. After the 24 hrs we used the pictured fishing rod thread to wrap the rod around the broken area. After the threading we applied the included epoxy glue evenly all over the thread. Used a fan to help the epoxy dry while slowly & evenly rotating the rod for 30 minutes. Once again we allowed the rod to sit 24 hrs.The repair was complete & we were satisfied with the end result.I waited to write a review until the rod was taken out for action. I am more than satisfied to say the rod was able to reel in a bass easily pushing to 3lbs. Along with two other bass and showed no signs of distress.I am more than pleased with this kit given the fact that it has saved us money & time. Buy yours , you won’t be disappointed!

Yall should be ashamed to write 4 star reviews when you know the glue is about as effective as using aunt jemima syrup.
