Banshee: Season 1 [DVD] [2013]

This let's be honest largely flew under the radar but boy did it smack you round the back of the head when you watched and that's just for starters. During the season I have laughed, winced, screamed, yelled, cheered and clapped even a few hide beind my hand moments. Its violent, sexy, smart and not a regular cop show/family drama!So to Banshee a small town with huge secrets our hero (hood although that's not his real name) is flawed and he's just moved to Banshee to find ex-girlfriend Ana after doing 15 years in jail but in Banshee she's now married with 2 kids she has the perfect life.....Ex-Amish turned business man Proctor has got the town in his back pocket with the help of his stylish assistant Burton (man scared the crap out of me end of ep3) his niece has secrets of her own and wants to leave the Amish life behind will she manage? What is Proctor's agenda with the local Native American Tribe? Will Ana's marriage survive the arrival of Hood? Will Hood be found out being an imposter after all its not every day you assume the identity of a towns Sheriff.Will our hero be bought by Proctor, who is the mysterious Rabbit that Hood and Ana are hiding from, will they all make it out alive?The cast is 1st class some of the humour (most of it) comes from the superb writing of the character Job (Hood's tech&fashion fast quips mate) who is played by Hoon Lee. Ben Cross is mysterious as Rabbit with the supporting cast given ample to shine alongside the leads of Starr & Millicevic.In my original review i mentioned [...] about how using the safe combo gives you access to material about the credit sequences and webisodes little prequels to the show well BOOM! its all here on the blu ray set and its awesome the commentaries on selected episodes are worth listening to if you enjoy hearing about the process of making a tv show (or 10 mini movies) and the graphic novel origins is here too.All in all this rates right up there in terms of extras and packaging. Well worth the money honestly not disappointed very happy with this purchase. Proving that Banshee deserves it "one show u must see" tag 10 times over!

This is definitely an 18 rated series, and not for family viewing.There are some sex/nudity scenes(which may spur you all to rush out and buy it!), but the rating is also a result of the violence- graphic;detailed;ever present;unrelenting; and in several episodes over the top. While Americans may like all this detailed violence, and perhaps have become de-sensitized to it in their society as a result, it is unnecessary to what is an otherwise excellent and original storyline.A long time ago, 2 people stole very valuable diamonds from a Ukrainian crime boss.One was caught by the police and went to jail for 15 years, where he was subjected to daily beatings etc due to the boss's connections into the prison system.So he serves his full sentence as the parole board also is paid not to parole him. He survives and emerges and sets about looking for his heist partner and the diamonds.The Ukrainians have not forgotten or forgiven and are also determined to use him for the same objective.And so, the story begins.Through a quirk of fate, a new Sherriff of a small town is about to take up his post but is killed before doing so in front of the released diamond thief, who takes over this identity as a way of improving his chances for what is to follow.The town ends up with an unorthodox but very effective new lawman, whom they do not realise is an ex-con with a violent past.The town is called Banshee, and under its bucolic appearance, there are drugs;gambling;crooked land deals;bribery;corruption and so on. But there is a new sherriff in town, and in more ways than one.The Ukrainians are one step behind, and slowly through violent dreams/nightmares the back story of the diamond theft, the other thief,their relationship,the real reason of the Ukranian boss's relentless pursuit,and all the corruption in this town is revealed.Well-paced and full of tension, this is worth watching.However the violence is deeply upsetting, and in the second to last episode became too much for my wife who walked out even though she liked the series overall.

Amazing show!!

This is advertised as an all regions release.But on loading the disks all the menus will show but no episodes will load.My Sony blu ray player is a UK Reg b and is a fairly new player.I updated the firmware but still no change.So sadly I had to return the item.There is supposed to be a work round but Im not doing this every time I want to play a disk. Very disappointed.Great service from Amazon who gave me an immediate refund.I wonder if I was just unlucky or if I was sent a reg A locked release in error ? There was no region noted on this box set ? Unknown to me my wife got me another for Xmas and I found if you use just the pop up menu the episodes will play.Very good sound and picture quality.Im now quite content.

Como se indica, no viene doblado al castellano (si al español LA). Aún así, en mi opinión, verla doblada es un desperdicio así que sin problema.La calidad de imagen y sonido es muy buena y las escenas eliminadas de los extras se agradecen. Los menús no son la gran cosa pero cumplen sin más.Puntuandola como género, serie de 10.La edición no incluye la caja/envoltorio de cartón que si incluyen el resto de temporadas.

I fell in love with the show on Cinemax and now I get to own them all on DVD. I am "Forever Fanshee"!!!

Je n'est pas reçu ce bluray.Néanmoins je connais la premiere saison de BANSHEE.Je l'ai découverte par hasard sur ciné club.Je m'étais dit<<je regarde cinq minutes,si ça me gave je l'arrete>>.La premiere scene lorsque le mec sort de prison et qu'il pique la moto,et crés des accidents,je me suis dit!<<c'est quoi cette daube!?>>les 5 minutes suivantes c'était<<OUAI..!?>>Et puis <<Ouai super ,excellent ça!>>!Enfin une serie policiere intelligente!Pour les adultes! Et où l'on ne s'ennuis pas une seconde!Dommage qu'apres la quatrieme saison ils l'ont arretés.Naturellement c'était trop top!

Sostengan de esta serie, pero en la descripción del producto debería ponerse los idiomas que se pueden escuchar, eso me ha traído el tener que efectuar cambios. Por lo demás todo perfecto y la serie genial.
