Q: How much weight will this hold?

I regularly have thirty five pounds in mine I kayak to work every day and it's holding up great!

Q: what material is this made from AND what welding technique is used?

Not sure of material. Seams are taped both sides, and all I can say is it doesn't feel as well made as an NRS bag, for example. I haven't had problems, but wouldn't buy it again.

Hi, The product description says it's a 30L or 8 lbs bag. Although you can fill it with things exceeding that weight, it would not be advisable anymore as it would make you already uncomfortable in your hike.
