Ambient Weather WS-7079 Smart Weather Station w/ WiFi Remote Monitoring and Alerts, High Definition Display

This is an excellent weather station and has a great high definition display that looks like a tablet. Be sure to read the manual thoroughly. Will need to adjust barometric pressure. No problem connecting to weather underground after a few tries, just follow the manual. After more than a month station has worked 24/7 without any problems. All pictures in the description appear to be accurate. I love my new WeatherStation and I have my neighbors connected to it through Weather Underground. I like the web browser version better than the app. You can also access weather stats by date range. This is model number WS-7079. It is strange there is no dedicated website for this model number on Ambient Weather, and there is no software update of course to be found. I would still recommend getting the weather station. Nothing is wrong with it. At least there are Replacement parts listed on Ambient Weather website. I purchased this WeatherStation when it was reduced down to $178. I compared this weather station to a Davis instrument weather station in my neighborhood and other Ambient Weather stations and the readings were about the same. The rain gauge may not be entirely accurate but it will let you know when it is raining, but in all fairness the neighborhood weather stations were showing about the same readings for the rain gauge during rainstorms. So maybe it’s more accurate than I realize when I compared to an external rain gauge. You also can set up alerts based on any readings you have. If you are a weather nerd you will certainly love this station. Don’t forget you can also set it up with Alexa and with Google assistant and they will report your weather details with your voice command. That’s pretty cool.Edit 12.8.21 my weather station went off-line for the first and only time. I edited my comments here previously and chalked it up to just changing out batteries solved the problem.Updated March 28, 2022 - my ambient WeatherStation which is connected to the weather underground network is working great. No major complaints. This thing works right if you know how to set up weather stations. I purchased the WS – 7079 model. I purchased it on August 28, 2021 when it was $178. I’ve noticed the price continues to stay at $209.99. Ambient weather now includes the WS – 7078 model for $159.99 which is a good deal since it is similar to my model 7079. Consoles are different. *** also note that in the listing it states the outdoor array power includes solar panel. This is incorrect at least for model 7079. They both indicate you need three AA batteries for back up which of course is incorrect, The batteries are necessary to power the unit. The display console uses a 5V DC adapter included and includes a CR 2032 battery back up. it certainly can’t hurt trying the model 7078 for $159 this is the lowest I’ve ever seen these models at. I guess because spring time has arrived They lowered the price. And yes it states it has a wind speed range of 112 mph?? I would doubt it could handle that but it has worked fine for me. Keep in mind I added three new pictures which show my weather station on a 10 foot pole wrapped in colorful lights between buildings…..because of that the wind indicators are not absolutely correct but give me an indication of how fast the wind is around the buildings where I walk. It is always lower than the national weather service wind speeds. That’s all right with me since I wanna know the speed on the ground where I’m at beside buildings. Of course they recommend placing it far away from buildings and other objects. Up high is obviously the best but if you don’t want to get up on your roof go to your neighborhood **** value store… I just purchased a 10 foot conduit pole….. I taped The pole to my outdoor laundry post, and YESSS a cheap and quick installation and also it’s easy to get to the WeatherStation for maintenance on a 5 foot ladder. Quite likely the best one I have bought.

It has several light weight delicate plastic parts, be careful when putting it together. Also, it has specific instructions to be at least 100 feet away from a structure/home, but remember you need wifi internet to work it. Be sure your internet works that far from house. Luckily our did work. Once a year you need to change the batteries. We haven't gone thru a winter yet, curious to know if it will hold up under frigid icy conditions ??? Hopefully it will. The pic is the indoor unit. The outdoor unit is screwed down.

I really, really like this weather station. The ability to access the weather details foe both inside and outside my house from anywhere (through the app) is amazing. It also seems to be fairly accurate.I deducted a star due to the wi-fi setup instructions. They're horrible, and if I didn't have some IT experience, I wouldn't have ever got it to work. They need to reevaluate their setup instructions. It's like the instructions are for a different device because the buttons and setting that they refer to don't exist, or they are located in a completely different area on the display unit. It's too bad because I'm sure some people are missing out on some of the great features of this device due to them giving up on some of the settings because the instructions are too confusing and inaccurate.Another reason I deducted a star was due to them telling me the display has the day's high and low temperatures on it, which it doesn't. You can get the info from the app, but it's not on the display.

This weather station is super easy to install and the display gives all the current info. The best part is that it uploads to Ambient Weather and Weather Underground. I can view the current info and past info and forecasts. Great so far!

Once I figured out what I did wrong setting the console up , it works fine . I am sorry for my previous bad review because it was my error for not understanding that the so called Mac address they were looking for was the code on the back of the console not the address of my IMAC .I also want to apologize to the Ambient Tech who was trying to help me but there was some lost communication from me . The weather station is reporting now .

I bought this one for our friends for Christmas. I have the same one and really love it. Easy to set up and read.

I had a minor sensor issue with my unit and Ambient weather replaced it. Communication was excellent and service extremely prompt. I have had some issues syncing the unit to enjoy all features, but that is more a question of my technological ineptitude, than the unit itself.
