Premium Color Acrylic Paint Set, High Resistance for Airbrush Use, Versatile Application, 6 x 17 ml Bottles

Spanish manufacturer Vallejo specialises in acrylics formulated for airbrushes, and this is their matt varnish. It flows through the airbrush easily without blocking and offers a truly clear matt finish ideal for the final coat. The acrylic varnish may be used straight from the bottle into the airbrush or thinned 4:1 with thinner or 5:1 with ‘airbrush flow improver’ (a fantastic product BTW with regular acrylics but with Vallejo Air formulations not really necessary). Make sure you apply 2 or 3 thin coats and give it plenty of drying time, ideally 24 hours between coats. The varnish is supplied in a 60ml pot which covers around a square metre. It’s a good product and superior to the matt varnishes from Tamiya which doesn’t always flow easily thru any airbrush with a needle & nozzle smaller than 0.2mm or Humbrol varnish which, though cheap, does flow well but sometimes dries with an annoying white residue which ruins your finish. The Vallejo varnish is easy to clean out of your airbrush by rinsing through with airbrush cleaner without disassembling the parts.

Its white paint, not exactly something to get two excited about. Its normal Vallejo quality and thickness, dries quickly to a satin/matte finish.

Works as I was hoping it would, but wear gloves! As my hands are now permanently red! Lol!

This varnish has a reasonably durable finish, it will protect acrylics from water saturation and abrasion to an extent. The varnish will dull the reflective behaviour of metallics, Vallejo Premium Colo has alternatives if that matters to you. I have used two bottles of this so far and am loving the fact this does not change the perception of colour, can be used thinly and makes the surface reflective propoerties of the painted model more uniform.

Vallejo Matt Varnish is the best varnish I've used in forty plus years of figure painting. It leaves a beautiful matt finish which really enhances the paintwork. One little tip... do your varnishing where the room temperature is well above freezing!

Great coverage and fast drying, 100% reccomend

Vallejo can always be a bit hit and miss in my experience. So I wasn’t sure what this product would be like. It’s excellent. Sprayed around 15psi through a .4 needle and it goes on beautifully. Dries relatively quickly, not as clear as some lacquer based products, but when dry it self levels and it very smooth. Recommended.

Great varnish. Flows well through my airbrush (Iwata HP-CS). It has produced a very nice, matte finish on the hundred or so minis I've used it on over the past several months - have not had a single issue with it.
