A perfect gift for that unhappy person in your life
I always loved following Oatmeal on the Internet, and this is the first book of their comics I bought. I bought it for content, but was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of cover and print as well.If you have that person in your life who never admits they're happy, this is a wonderful gift. As always, Oatmeal is simple and hits you right in the heart. This little comic is a great, deep insight into what happiness really is, and why it's ok not to be happy in the way society proclaims the only right way to be content.

Me Loves It
It's so important for artists of all kinds, in so many diverse ways, to state anew in novel ways, "you do you", feel how you feel, express what you are uniquely suited to express. Why does the mainstream media endlessly behoove us to look like singular individuals by our exterior self, but yet reinforce '50s cliches to be uniform "happy" clones by our interior self? Excessively contented, well-adjusted, self-satisfied types generally don't pioneer changes or forge different perspectives.Good on The Oatmeal for breaking out of the stultifying happy/unhappy paradigm and for allowing us to follow suit as we have far more interesting things to be doing with our varied, multi-layered emotional landscape. The comics look great each getting their page in the Kindle format.

Satisfaction does not equal happiness
This book is a nice reminder that satisfaction and happiness are not the same thing, and you can be satisfied while not necessarily feeling happy. That's ok.The art is fun. I wish it were a tad longer but it doesn't have filler so that's nice.

soothing and validating
I found this to validate me. I always figured something was wrong with me because I do not experience “happy” the way others tell me I should. In fact, most people find something wrong with how I feel despite it having no bearing on their lives. This book makes me feel…like me. Like my experience IS shared and that soothes me.

Great message
I was introduced to this book by a friend, he sent an online pdf of the book after we talked a little about happiness. It was very informative and illustrative and we had a nice talk afterwards. I enjoyed it so much, I decided I wanted to get it as a present for him, so he can remember it's perfectly fine to be unhappy.

Great advice and hilarious way to give it
I enjoy re-reading this book from time to time, and it very much reflects what I've learned in life. The advice is excellent; the jokes and pictures are fun, but despite the silliness, it's right on the money. Be interested and busy with things that you find meaningful; don't feel bad because you're not blissfully happy all the time.

Great illustrations, excellent concept.
Based on an article by Augusten Burroughs. Well illustrated. Brings new perspective to the idea of happiness. Challenging in the concept, but short and to the point and easy to understand.

Too short?
I really enjoyed this book but it seems to be far too short for the price. I didn’t even look at the number of pages when I bought it because I have bought his other box and there was more content. It is, though, a book with a very interesting message and it is an enjoyable read.

Cute book and surprisingly philosophical
I like seemingly simple books with an underlying message, and this one doesn't disappoint.Western society has put such pressure on people to "be happy" that we forget happiness is a fleeting feeling, not something to feel *all the time.* This books puts things into perspective, and I love the message and drawings. If you like something you can read in 15 minutes and come back to once in a while to remind you that being content is enough, then get this.
