EDIT 9/13/2024: In my original review I stated that the bar is sebderm-safe. I just learned I was wrong. The Modern Mammals liquid wash apparently is sebderm-safe, but the bar is not. It contains a few ingredients that may exacerbate sebderm. I'm not sure if the formula changed. I will no longer be purchasing the bar format, and will only buy the liquid version in the future.I just ordered my third, so I have a lot of experience with the Modern Mammals bar at this point, and clearly I like it. Each bar lasts me about 6 months. Before this, I used Modern Mammals liquid hair wash, but when they changed the formula it became too thick to get out of the bottle easily. I also used Vanicream shampoo for a while as they're milder than most other shampoos, although Modern Mammals is better. I have medium-long hair.Pros:• Unscented, although I liked the scent of the MM liquid wash.• I like the bar format. It's easy to lather and distribute to every area of my head. Works well even with long hair.• Leaves your hair and scalp feeling clean but not dried out or beat up.• Washes out easily.• Hair comes out healthy, shiny, and incredibly soft. I don't combine it with conditioner or anything.• I don't seem to get any dandruff while using this.Cons:• The price is high. I can get over a year out of one bottle of shampoo, but the MM bar only lasts 6 months.• At the end of the bar's life, it falls apart like a soap bar would. Once it starts to break, it crumbles very quickly.• My hair still gets somewhat frizzy, although nowhere near as much as from conventional shampoo.

The marketing in this product is heavily tilted towards men, but I can confirm it works great for women, too. After using it once, I went back & bought the 4 pack immediately because I never want to run out & if I don’t get a bar for my husband he’ll keep stealing mine. Here are the reasons I love it:1. Actually really unscented: I have severe reactions to some synthetic fragrances (including masking fragrances), and I had no problems at all with this product.2. Cleans well: After I used it, my hair and scalp felt clean but not dried out.3. Good detangler: I have a lot of long, fine curly hair, which I only comb through in the shower. While this isn’t the best detangler I’ve ever used, it’s definitely good enough. I just worked it through from roots to ends, then used a tangle teaser to brush it through. Even after rinsing, I could still get a brush through without snags, tangles or other damage.3. Conditions well. My biggest concern about this bar was that it would leave my hair dry and unmanageable. While I would definitely characterize it as a lightweight conditioner (didn’t weigh my hair down at all), it also left my hair looking healthy with surprisingly good curl definition, even without any other styling products in my hair.4. Great for sensitive skin. My skin reacts to most conditioners (ranged from a little bit of itching/redness to my eyelids swelling up, depending on the type of cationic surfactant the conditioner contains and how much I apply). I had zero reaction to this product. It’s amazing!5. Saves time: While I wasn’t looking for an all in one, this product shaves 20 minutes off the time it takes me my wash & style my hair. Multiplied out across all my wash days, that’s actually a significant chunk of my life back 😁6. Looks & feels nice: Although it’s not the most important thing to me, the look and feel of the bar is a nice little bonus. I have a minimalist modern spa bathroom, and the grey color looks nice without being a huge distraction.This really is a great product - even though I bought a bunch of bars, I’m tempted to stockpile more. You never know when they’ll reformulate and ruin a great product like this. If they do anything to mess it up, I will definitely update this review.

I have thick, dry, frizzy hair. This light hampoo bar helps keep the frizz at bay and I appreciate that it is scent free. I'm probably not going to buy it again because of the cost.
