Hypnotherapy

A cutting edge must read book.
I got interested in hypnotherapy recently and needed a book to guide me into it as a complete beginner. This book is a must read. Even though it has been written some time ago, it is more cutting-edge and more modern than most books published last year. This is due to the fact that the author is extremely openminded and also experienced, which in the end really benefits the reader. This book is heavily based on the authors own experience, rather than beign overly theoretical. I absolutely enjoyed this foundation in experience as it lets me learn a lot in very little time. All in all, possibly the best buy I made on Amazon in a long time.

Written from a position of authority
A simple title and a simple cover both in keeping with straight forward writing capturing both the history and the practical practice of hypnosis. Much of the book draws on recording of teaching sessions and client sessions such that at the end i felt like i had been there. A testament, perhaps, to the power of suggestion. Elman writes with the authority of someone who has spent time practicing, reflecting and refining his skills including his skill in teaching others. Whilst the greatest benefit is likely to those who are interested in the practice of hypnosis it is also a fascinating read for anyone interested in the subject but wary of the "stage magician" approach. I highly recommend it.

Fab book!
This is a really great read, to the point and informative, if you want a concise history of hypnosis with really good examples of the authoritarian style of hypnotic delivery this is it. Some allowance has to be made for the writing style of the scripts as it was written 50 or so years ago, but anyone with half a brain can get their head round that. I'd recommend this book to anyone.

Excellent
There are a lot of hypnotherapy books out there on the market, but if you are just starting out get this one. Simple, straightforward and down to earth - and most of the others seem to just take his methods and re-write them. Can also confirm that but following the Elman process - it works!!

Dave Elman
This is a book that every hypnotherapist should have, Dave Elman was as essencial to the trade as Milton Erikson and his techniques are better (although that's a matter of preference really), this was the book that inspired me to become a clinical hypnotherapist and is the book I usually refer to when I need advise.

hello dave
i initially bought this title because it has a bit about hypnoanalysis through regression . it is very interesting stuff . i think there is an old fashioned feel about the book but it was written in 1964, however i am very pleased i added it to my collection.

Must buy and read, for any Hypnotherapist
In some ways dated - but essential and fascinating reading for any Hypnotherapist. Good quality book and the only one ever written by Dave Elman himself.

Perfect for beginners and for professionals
Amazing book that gives a general clarification of hypnosis, by being written in the 90s lacks some notions and it's not the best book for learn the practice but it gives some hint on where to start and definitely a book that every hypnotist should read twice
